I like where we're at right now. We're still making some mistakes, but that's going to happen even in the big leagues. A catcher's going to set up outside and a pitch is going to go inside. Physical mistakes are going to happen. Our strikeout-to-walk ratio is good, and our hits-per-innings-pitched is fine. We just have to avoid the mental mistakes. |
I love it here. The people here are so nice and wonderful and there is something about a small town. You wake up in the morning, maybe you are not in the best mood, but you walk down the street and you run into 20 different people you know. And by the time you get where you are going, you're going to feel good. It is that small town charm, I guess. |
I made the decision, and I meant what I said that the competition was incredible and there will be a lot of disappointed people, ... I have to try to be fair. I understand they had only had a game 12 years ago, but they met all the criteria other than that. They have a gorgeous ballpark ... and Kevin McClatchy was about as tenacious as you can get. |
I mean, I don't think I was liked as a person. I was kind of seen as a black kid, young African-American, cornrows, drives fancy cars, wears diamond earrings, things like that. They just kind of based their perception off of what I drove and what I did and things like that. All those things were never a part of any other player on that team but me. |
I said to him, 'You know, I found that story very interesting. You see, President Putin, I think you judge a person on something other than just politics. I think it's important for me and for you to look for the depth of a person's soul and character. I was touched by the fact your mother gave you the cross.' I was able to get a sense of his soul. |
I think a lot of credit has to go to Louisville when you have a leader out. I'm not sure how well our offense would have been if we didn't have Marcus Williams. Marcus is not the scorer, but he is the runner of the team. He gets the ball to the right people in the right time at the right spots. They didn't have that tonight. They worked like crazy. |
I think everybody in the stadium thinks he came down with it. We'll see on film, and I hope the film shows he didn't come down with it. It was pretty much a unanimous thing that everybody in the stadium thought he caught the football. We'll have to see. If he did catch it, then it was a bad call, and if he didn't catch it, then it was a great call. |
I think he realizes what he means to this team, and what he means to this offense now. That was very evident when he went down last year vs. the 49ers here at home, and we missed him for those two games. Things didn't go as well as they should have when he was in there. I believe just having him in the offense makes everything a whole lot smoother. |
I think I bring a different perspective because I've been in their seats, I know exactly what they're going through. It was only five or six years ago I was experiencing the same exact things they're experiencing, certainly from a soccer perspective, but also the challenges of schoolwork and social life, and everything that goes into being at Penn. |
I think if I started selectively indicating who I spoke to and what they said, and what they didn't say, I think I've hindered a part of the process. My charge was always to do this in a fair way and a confidential way. So I guess I'm not going to answer that because I don't want to get into a 'he said, she said.' I just don't do business that way. |
I think it may just be broader concern rather than a focus on what's happening to interest rates. Many of these sectors haven't done well and it's not clear what will turn them around. It's a little surprising the financial services are down. Although, they would be mixed on (Greenspan's) message, I would expect them to be a little more a positive. |
I think it was 47 years that he'd been coaching so he was probably my biggest influence because he pushed me really hard and I just didn't have anybody else. It wasn't until I started going to Perry and started recognizing names and seeing who the good shooters were, so I really didn't have an influence until years later. But he was my biggest one. |
I think it's good for him to be around his other family, and his brothers on this football team. I think it gets him away from all that other stuff. When you're out there playing, man, it's almost like being in your own world, and the only thing that matters is you and your teammates. And I think that's good for him, especially at a time like this. |
I think Marvin and Josh Smith are going to make some noise because they can do so many things. If they can get out and run and make some easy buckets they'll be fine. I just have to get them to the point where they can lock down defensively. If we can get five guys locking in and believing in what we're trying to do, we'll be all right defensively. |
