If he voted today, he clearly would never vote for Republicans. He wouldn't support the war in Iraq. He would say this administration didn't have a plan. He would say they have broken international laws and they have now been spying on Americans. Paine would have been outraged that they had been acting in a way which would threaten American freedom. |
If I don't play that game, and he doesn't give me a couple of free ones, it could have gone to a [tiebreaker] at the end, ... So just a couple of big points here and there in these kind of big matches ... I expect the same [today]. I expect the same in just about every match I play to be based on a few points. Now I feel like those are going my way. |
If I had been in that position, I'd have said, here's a copy of the Constitutional and the Bill of Rights. You are in violation, and you need to stop this immediately. I certainly would have broken the story. At some point you have to blow the whistle when people are breaking the law, spying on Americans, in violation of the federal wiretapping law. |
If something like a building already exists and it needs paint or TLC, it's so much easier to put that off because it's still functioning. Water starts coming through the ceiling and people say, 'It's only a leak, put a bucket under it,' but they don't understand the ramifications of letting that continue: mold, rotten wood and much bigger problems. |
If we win tomorrow, Roy will be mad at recommending Scott seven years ago. I was at the Nike camp, and I was ? standing behind Roy Williams and asked him to recommend somebody. He said 'I'm not sure he's available, but I think Scott Cherry is the guy you're looking for.' I was looking for a point guard, a leader, somebody who knew how to run a team. |
If you're getting ready to play Vince Young, you know you've got a two-headed monster. He's proven to me that he can throw it, as well as be able to run around and make plays. He's one of the most exciting players to come out in recent memory. He hasn't really even tapped into some of the things I think he's going to be able to do at the next level. |

In essence they are faced with the unpleasant choice of managing this over a period of time or dealing with this all at once after an earthquake and dealing with life loss and clean up to boot. That's what sets us off from other countries of the world. That is how we save lives in Southern California we do have building codes and we do enforce them. |
In recent years the networks have poured money into reality shows and that's what younger viewers are used to. Dramas are more demanding and require more attention by the viewer, but the rewards are greater if you stick with them. It's important for the networks not to have a kneejerk reaction and to keep topping up people's ability to digest drama. |

In terms of the thought process on the economy, today's ISM data on the services sector didn't help. It didn't really come as a surprise -- but, having said that, the broader thought process that the economy isn't doing well in the second half compared with the first half has investors concerned that we may need to test the lows of the market again. |
In the absence of national safety standards, the CDC should not be sitting on data so clearly needed to protect the public from a chemical that appears to be widespread in drinking water and food. Once again, in the face of inaction by the Bush Administration, states such as Massachusetts and California are stepping forward to protect public health. |
In the end, voters will be looking at me based on my record. And my record, I think, is great. I've been consistently good on issues involving affordable housing and our public schools and public safety. I don't expect that everyone agrees with all of my positions. But if I had a record on issues that was out of step, then I'd kind of have to worry. |
In the fall, I taught a course on Switzerland. We analyzed newspaper articles, lyrics, movies, and personal experiences to explore the concept of 'Swiss' identity. This semester, we're watching a variety of German films that deal with young people grappling with society. We've seen everything from feature films to comedies, soap operas, and sitcoms. |
Individuals interested in donating can call The Bridge. We do still need food, paper products, money, cleaning supplies - if people could call and coordinate donations. People loved donating clothing to The Bridge - it was an avenue; if they could put their focus on collecting cleaning supplies - toilet paper, food etc. - these items are a priority. |
