You definitely see how blessed you are and how much other people have to struggle. Basically you realize how fortunate you and your teammates are that we haven't suffered something as life-changing as these kids have and yet they still fight. It just makes you want to continue on in life fighting for what's right and doing good things and helping people. |
You don't want to be too worried about the marketplace or what's commercial, or what's on TV or in the movies right now. What started us was writing this very personal romantic comedy script that never got made, but was about very personal things to us and showcased our voice as writers. People responded to that and started to open doors because of that. |
You just wait for that phone call from your agent, basically. And that's the worst, because they always say, 'If you're sitting there waiting on that phone call, it ain't never going to come.' It's not an easy thing to go through, especially when you have a family. You've got to be willing to jump up and move to any other city and hope you get picked up. |
You know we're the only city -- I think we're the only big city in America ... there may be an exception or two ... that women are running the Police Department, Fire Department and our emergency services. That's why I feel so safe. And I'll tell you why. Women put their egos aside. You get these guys in uniform, all of a sudden it's their way or no way. |
You know, Andrew is not Superman. He's fallible just like everybody else. He's not going to go out and just mow everybody down. If you had the opinion that it's Andrew Miller against Duke and it's just going to be like a knife through hot butter, you're not paying attention. Baseball is too hard to play, and you've got to give Duke more credit than that. |
You never know with a new team how they're going to respond to a situation like that. Honestly, I think every coach, every fan and everyone on the team wondered what was going to happen. They came right back out and played hard. They started chipping way at the lead. To come back and tie it up and force extra innings, I think that just bodes well for us. |
