It has clearly been a pattern in the past few months of Congress intensifying its efforts of looking into how the executive branch has handled executive authority, and this will only intensify. During the 1970s, Congress was also under scrutiny for how it operated; at the same time, it increased its scrutiny of how the White House conducted the war in Vietnam and intelligence. The two go together. |
It is all too easy for people to overlook those who still do not have access to broadband in this country. It is of huge significance to those affected. The few thousand [British] households that do not have access to broadband must be helped. The market has done what it can for them, I think it is time government or local government stepped in to assist and help upgrade exchanges where necessary. |
It was a remarkably quick turn around with our relationships with Japan. Within two to three years we were rebuilding landing strips at airports that we had bombed a few months before. We forged what has been an enduring alliance with Japan. We went from them going from being one of our bitterest enemies to them being our ally. It was interesting how that was accomplished in almost no time at all. |
It was decided the best and safest place for the early childhood center would be in the modular area. We are creating it in a horseshoe shape. Each building will have handicap accessible ramps. It will be a pleasant place once the landscaping and grass are in. That area should suffice for the center for a couple of years. The center is our priority for those children and we have an immediate need, |
It's a fourth place, but it's almost like a win. We got in a huge hole the first day here with problems, but every member of this team kept digging and got us out of the ditch. I really can't say enough about their efforts. With the door problem at the end, Andy (Wallace) drove like crazy to keep his position. The handling of the car had to be just terrible, but he (Andy) put in a monstrous stint. |
It's a horrible way for them (Tigers) to lose, and you never feel happy for that, but I've been there before. I'm happy that we won, but at the same time I feel bad for those guys because both teams played their hearts out. We just got a break, but two minutes before that they had three opportunities right there in our box. It was exciting, back and forth, and either side could have won this game. |
It's not a magnet as in all of a sudden the Carolina Hurricanes will spend $49 million. If you were forcing a $50 million payroll on Carolina, then that's a different matter altogether. You're talking about a league that had $2.1 billion in revenue in its last season. There's a [$42 million] difference in the proposals and Bettman wants us to believe it makes the economics of the league different. |

It's very sad. It's very sad, ... At the very beginning I think this is a story about a man (trying to) carry on his life after he broke up with the woman he loves. And he tries to change. He tries to forget the past. He tries to live like a new man. He thinks he's changed entirely, he sees things, he acts differently, but deep down inside him I think he still lingers with the past and that's sad. |
Jim Sensenbrenner is once again deciding to abandon his fellow Americans in their time of need. This proposal would simply allow those citizens wiped out by Hurricane Katrina to file for bankruptcy under the old law, making it easier for these families to get back on their feet after this disaster. Apparently, Congressman Sensenbrenner doesn't think we should lend a helping hand to these families. |
Joe's tremendous leadership throughout his six years as president and chief operating officer gives us confidence he will deliver more of the same at Georgia-Pacific. In Bill's 32 years with Koch, he has done an exemplary job of building our operations excellence capability. I am certain Joe and Bill, along with the outstanding Georgia-Pacific team, will continue Georgia-Pacific's proud tradition. |
Look at the facts of the world. You see a continual and progressive triumph of the right. I do not pretend to understand the moral universe; the arc is a long one, my eye reaches but little ways; I cannot calculate the curve and complete the figure by the experience of sight; I can divine it by conscience. And from what I see I am sure it bends towards justice. Things refuse to be mismanaged long. |
Men professing godliness offer their bodies upon Satan's altar, and burn the incense of tobacco to his satanic majesty. Does this statement seem severe? The offering must be presented to some deity. Since God is pure and holy, and will accept nothing defiling in its character, He refuses this expensive, filthy, and unholy sacrifice; therefore we conclude that Satan is the one who claims the honor. |
Monster-in-Law is billed as a romantic comedy, but it's actually a mystery: Why did Jane Fonda, one of the finest actors of her generation, choose this undernourished script as her comeback project after 15 years away from the screen?. But unless Fonda buys all the copies and burns them, this is a sad curtain call and places a question mark, instead of an exclamation point, on a successful career. |
My biggest thing with him is he would never take any time off. He was sneaking in the gym. We got beat by West Virginia and all of a sudden he's back in the gym that night shooting for two hours. It's actually counter-productive when you wear your body out that much. It's like a marathon runner getting ready to run a marathon by running five marathons the day before he's going to run the marathon. |
