He knew how to make bombs. He made them and placed them. He blew up headquarters of the Nazi party once. When they [communists] took over, Central Committee of the Communist Party ordered him out of East Germany... The man moved to Britain, joined the Labor Party, and became an active socialist. Consider it. The man decided that killing was the only way, and I'd say it was a correct decision. I'd like to believe I myself would have had the courage to join him in it. |
How many ladies in the house tonight!? [Fans scream] Oh, sh*t... All you ladies scream! [Fans scream again] Now that I have the ladies' attention, I want to tell you something. Some day, you're going to go to a concert and see a rock star. He may look like me, or him, or us, or any one, and he's going to tell you if you show him your tits he'll take you backstage. And I want you... to spit in that mother f***er's face! [Fans scream] Because you are better than that! |
I am very happy to have Roberto focused on our technology foundation. His contributions will keep our products competitive and successful. At the same time, we must have a strong technical leader to advance the R&D organization in innovative industrial design and industrial machinery competitive positioning. Tania's long history with the company and her ability to introduce aggressive, new engineering approaches make her an extraordinary fit for this new assignment. |

I cannot think of a better way to communicate my New Year's wishes and Rain Bird's important environmental messages to the Parade's worldwide audience. The koala is one of the world's most charismatic and popular animals, but the rapid destruction of its native environment has resulted in a decline in the wild koala population. It is imperative that education and conservation efforts continue to be implemented to protect koalas in the wild and ensure their survival. |
I don't think we necessarily started off slow. I think they started off fast. What we tried to do was not get buried under the avalanche and that's what I told our guys. We watched their last game against Roanoke and they got them down 26-4. That's a tough climb to come back. I figured if we could handle their first rush of energy that would give us a chance to stay in the game. I knew we were going to play well, it was just a matter of when it was going to kick in. |
I guess it's something that has kind of developed, ... By the time the game starts, coach Reggie and I have studied the opponent so much I know the percentages of what a team will do on third down or second down or out of a certain formation. When you look at football scientifically and probabilities you can guess right. And sometimes it's just common sense. When they've got three or four guys over here and one over there, you can guess the ball is going over there. |

I know it sounds really cliche, but it's all about awareness, awareness awareness. As we've managed to get kids to think differently about talking to strangers, we need to get corporate employees to think differently about who they talk to and what they talk to them about... and who they talk in front of. Situational awareness has to be a part of any training... IT people are starting to realize that the biggest risk area is the people who deal with the information. |
I learned so many different things while studying for the quiz. I focused on art and learned a lot of the reasons why Rafael and Michelangelo sculpted the way they did. I learned how David was very mathematical. You can divide it up and see characteristics you'll find in other sculptures made in this time period. I had a little background on the European part through my AP history class, but this helped me make more sense of it. I'm basically studying twice as much. |
I really don't, for a number of reasons. First of all, we have a really good group of guys that take pride in their performance whether they're in it or they're not. Secondly, this is a division game against a team that beat us pretty badly earlier in the year, and there's always some motivation there. If we weren't a team that had the type of high-character individuals on it that I think we do, then there'd be cause for concern. I think we'll give it our best shot. |
I said two years ago that the European fighters and the Africans would take control because — I hate to say it — their amateur system is better than our American system. They're benefiting from that good foundation, and then they're spending more time staying and training over here and getting used to a variety of styles that they don't see in Europe. They're also developing sort of a gangster mentality, whereas before their mental makeup was a little more delicate. |
I say in my book that a lot of the music our forebears created was written for rich, snotty, snobby people who had enough money to buy theatre tickets. There was a great deal of trivia, a shallow quality to things ... ... You know, that 'I've got rhythm, I've got ...', there's something about it that's not very serious, and at least popular music during our generation began crossing over into an area where it was saying something about the conditions that prevailed. |
I think it was Laurence Olivier who said that one of the things you have to accept in art is that when you put your heart into doing something there will be people who don't like it for really good reasons, really smart people who don't like what you've done for very valid reasons. That is hard to accept, that there are really valid reasons for not liking anything. The astonishing thing is that there haven't been many valid reasons for anyone not to like this movie. |
I was in Studio 3 cutting a song with, I think, the Irish Rovers, ... I saw a record on the wall in the hall by Johnny Rivers. It had this song 'By the Time I Get to Phoenix.' And that made me curious. I wondered if it was about the city or the bird. So I listened to it, and I cried because it made me homesick. And if you can cry to Johnny Rivers, you know that's a good song. I recorded it the next day. And lo and behold it was one of the biggest records I ever had. |
