Small businesses are the drivers of the U.S. economy. Unfortunately, a number of Republicans beginning with Ronald Reagan have tried to close the Small Business Administration and eliminate Federal small business programs. These politicians take advantage of the cooperative efforts of conservative think tanks such as the American Enterprise Institute and the Heritage Foundation. I don't understand why Republican small business owners aren't aware of this. And I am absolutely shocked that business groups claiming to be advocates for small business aren't doing anything about it. |

That being said, we are not satisfied with our recent performance and have responded by taking decisive actions to improve our results. We are implementing a comprehensive set of initiatives to drive revenues, maximize margin opportunities, further improve our operating efficiencies, cut costs and increase asset utilization. We expect this plan will help offset the continued revenue softness we are seeing and expect to continue to see in the near-term, and will contribute to the long-term success of the Company, which is our goal for stockholders, partners and associates alike. |
That's what we've been doing since I've been here. It's always close, but not close enough. Until all of us as a whole come together and realize that we can indeed win and start taking the necessary steps and measures to do that, then that'll be what we are: The team that plays hard, and you're going to have to play your tails off to beat them, but some way, somehow, we'll win the game against them. And I think that's kind of like our rep right now, and we have to do everything we can to change that perception of us. And more importantly, we have to change it amongst ourselves. |
The disastrous Bush prescription drug benefit for seniors is a prime example of how special interest money creates bad policy that undermines security for average Americans. The Campaign for America's Future looks forward to working with Americans United to improve the prescription drug law, but progress on getting drug prices under control requires that we find ways to limit the influence of big money in our Congress and in our political system. We will work for economic change - while cleaning up corruption in our democratic system that weakens the voice of average Americans. |

There's been a movement over the past decade to begin looking very seriously at the ways in which the Holocaust has been 'marketed' and used in support of contemporary political goals. As difficult as that notion may be for some people to engage, it's an important and reasonable topic for discussion. A ruling that excludes Irving from the realm of legitimate historical scholarship creates more space for serious discussion among academics who accept the basic truths of the Holocaust, but who're asking important questions about the ways in which its legacy may be used or misused. |
Two or three big, all-embracing ideas, presented confidently, could have won him the 1998 election. But there seemed something within Beazley that shied away from big, all-embracing ideas, or even speaking directly. Appropriately, he began presenting himself as the nice guy - Snugglepot with brains. When the actual election campaign began he could have [arisen] in a blaze of illumination as the statesman with answers, presenting a big picture of an Australia that had a place in its own future. He went on talking, but the only transformation was that Snugglepot became Cuddlepie. |
Years ago I sang on a track using that voice and someone asked, 'Who is that terribly depressed man?' ... But Patrick loved it. He said, 'You sound like a young boy, like a child, like an old woman, like an old man,' and really, we all have all of those things inside of us. I don't do any vocal gymnastics to make the voice better as I age. If it comes out rougher, then it's true to what's happening. Singing is who I am. I didn't train for it, any more than I trained for anything else I did. I probably should take better care of myself physically, but it goes against the grain. |
