[However, as the so-called Information Superhighway grew in all directions, so did concern over traffic control. Lawmakers in Congress, while creating the new telecommunications bill, demanded curbs on so-called cyberporn, which they said flows freely on the Internet. Their proposed restrictions raised the hackles of some in the cyber community.] By saying that there are certain materials that are lewd and lascivious and are somehow inappropriate, you're putting a damper on the entire free-flow of information, ... Who is to define what is lewd, what is lascivious or just politically unpopular? |
[On a day it was revealed that Barry Bonds might be called to testify at a House committee hearing investigating steroid use in baseball, Commissioner Bud Selig hinted he might at some point do his own investigation of past steroid use.] I'll do that in a very sensitive manner. I'm sorry. I don't agree with naming names and hurting people. You can get to the truth in a different way, ... Maybe when a definitive history is written someday, long after I'm gone, we can make some sense of this. But there are a lot of players being named who deny it emphatically. I believe in the sense of fairness. |
[The Norwich Navigators have announced two major promotions in their front office staff. Keith Hallal was promoted from General Manager to Vice President and Jim Beaudoin was named the General Manager.] With the much anticipated re-launch of the team and the many changes that we will soon be announcing, our team requires top level, creative management, ... I am happy to promote Keith to Vice President and announce the hiring of Jim Beaudoin, one of the best young General Managers in Minor League Baseball. Under the leadership of Keith and Jim, 2006 will be a whole new ballgame at Dodd Stadium. |
And it shall be, when he sitteth upon the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write him a copy of this law in a book out of that which is before the priests the Levites: / And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear the LORD his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them: / That his heart be not lifted up above his brethren, and that he turn not aside from the commandment, to the right hand, or to the left: to the end that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he, and his children, in the midst of Israel. |
And none considereth in his heart, neither is there knowledge nor understanding to say, I have burned part of it in the fire; yea, also I have baked bread upon the coals thereof; I have roasted flesh, and eaten it: and shall I make the residue thereof an abomination? shall I fall down to the stock of a tree? / He feedeth on ashes: a deceived heart hath turned him aside, that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, Is there not a lie in my right hand? / Remember these, O Jacob and Israel; for thou art my servant: I have formed thee; thou art my servant: O Israel, thou shalt not be forgotten of me. |
I'll tell you something. If anyone has had a LAN game with an RTS in an office of fifteen to twenty, or eight or even just two people shouting over cubes at each other, it's a hugely different experience than playing alone. Being able to do that with anyone in the world? That's phenomenal. If that's the only thing we brought to the product, that would be great, but it's only the tip of the iceberg. The Xbox Live features, like 'king of the hill' and 'capture the flag,' are very well understood among players, and now they can do that in a strategy context, rather than as a first-person shooter. |
I'm a student of conservation history and what I see are cycles, ... The trend over time has been a broader level of conservation and concern. But there are peaks and valleys. We had tremendous environmental activism under Theodore Roosevelt, then went through a drought in the '20s. We had another resurgence in conservation interest in the '30s, hit a lull in the '50s, then had a highly active period in the '60s and '70s. We're in one of those down periods again, but I'm as certain as I can be that we're getting to the end of this period and headed toward a new era of conservation and concern. |
In every area of inquiry that we're involved in, suffice it to say there are an awful lot of interesting pivotal open questions that remain, ... Are we likely to witness revolutionary ideas on a par with what Einstein was able to do in 1905? It's difficult to conceive of a whole group of people being able to cause that much of a shift in our world view within such a short period of time, let alone one person. It was really an intellectual tour de force that’s been unrivaled through the ages. But something has to change, and there are an awful lot of questions we have with no answers to them. |

So she went and came unto the man of God to mount Carmel. And it came to pass, when the man of God saw her afar off, that he said to Gehazi his servant, Behold, yonder is that Shunammite: / Run now, I pray thee, to meet her, and say unto her, Is it well with thee? is it well with thy husband? is it well with the child? And she answered, It is well: / And when she came to the man of God to the hill, she caught him by the feet: but Gehazi came near to thrust her away. And the man of God said, Let her alone; for her soul is vexed within her: and the LORD hath hid it from me, and hath not told me. |
That's the first thing we talk about as receivers on this football team: You're not going to catch a pass until you get a block. That's something we stress each and every day. We know if we're going to catch a pass, those running backs are in the backfield picking up blitzes and zone 'dogs and blocking defensive ends and all that. For us, it's a team thing. We don't play receiver; we play football, whatever that means. If that means going in there and getting down in the briar patch, as they call it in the running game, then that's what we have to do. If we so happen to catch a pass, so be it. |
We are very disappointed we have not been able to come to an agreement with KPNX to carry their network. Broadcast networks are given free spectrum by the federal government to provide a service to the community. KPNX is available free, over-the-air, to residents in Phoenix. We don't believe Cable ONE customers in smaller Arizona communities should pay for free television. We have worked successfully with other broadcasters including the local affiliates of ABC, CBS, FOX, WB and UPN to keep their stations. KPNX also rejected our offer of a 60-day contract extension while negotiations continue. |

Yeah, I figured that out myself. From listening. I would have learned a lot quicker if I had someone to show me that shit. But I don't think you can be taught to be creative. It's like a computer. The computer will give you what you put in it, you know, or make an equation or something. I shouldn't talk about computers, I don't know anything about them. But you don't get out of it more than you put in. Basically that's what I'm trying to say. I think you can get pointers, but I don't think you can learn to be a complete musician. That has to come from within. And it entails a lot of sacrifice. |
