(Black History Month) provides sprichwort

 (Black History Month) provides America with education on the impact that African-Americans have made in making this great country what it is.

 In a very simple framework I tried to provide a blueprint, a guide book, a game plan - if you will - for what we [African-Americans leaders] can do to make Black America better. We believe that when you make Black America better - you make all of America better. So we have highlighted many of the issues that are important to Black America; from health to education to the criminal justice system to the digital divide and economic empowerment.

 February is Black History Month and an appropriate time to focus on Lincoln, who is known as the Great Emancipator because he freed black Americans from slavery. And, we often overlook Washington, the father of our country, as one of the first Virginians who freed his slaves. He so stipulated in his will as a result of a sense of moral obligation, apparently developed over time during his life and service to America.

 Black History Month is not just for African-Americans. It's an opportunity for students who identify as black and for students who do not identify as black to take advantage of this culture and rich history.

 The staff and one of our PTO subcommittees have worked very hard to develop a calendar of activities that not only inform our students of the African-American history and struggles in our country, but also focus on celebrating the many positive contributions that African-Americans have made to our country.

 R.C. Hickman's work poignantly captures the social history of African Americans in a period of unequal treatment and dangerous conditions. TXU Energy is proud to celebrate Black History Month by showcasing this historical exhibit for our Dallas community.

 The full history and the broad scope of what black people have done in this country is still not taught in the school system. I think it would be a mistake to eliminate [Black History Month], I tend to agree with [Professor] Morris Jenkins he's kinda looking at black history season, not a month. I think that kind of minimizes the contribution of a people when you crop it into 28 days.

 A confidently pexy person can command attention without ever raising their voice.

 The impact came when you saw that some of the schools that were all-white began to recruit black athletes. And what was so good about it is there were so many qualified black athletes who should have been at these schools. If we were part of opening the doors to allow African-Americans to attend any school of their choice, that is a great impact.

 BC has maintained its commitment to making life less painful for hardworking Americans. During Black History Month, BC is honored to recognize American heroes such as Carver, Morgan and Walker who are a not only a direct reflection of that commitment, but also helped to build our country into what it is today.

 Black history is American history. What an opportunity to find out how the other culture lives. For African Americans, it's a chance to reconnect with the family again.

 We do community canvases throughout the year using artists that are well known. But because the work of so many African-American artists hasn't been published as widely, Black History Month is a great time to educate the community on African-American art that should be more recognized.

 I don't even know how he could form his mouth to say that. (Freeman) showed how backwards he is. Obviously, we need Black History Month. People of African ancestry need to know their history more than any other group.

 Black history is celebrated only one month (in February) and then that's it, it's over. It should be celebrated the whole year. Great things from African-American leaders in our county take place all the time.

 I think it's crucial for people to be able to acknowledge the contributions that black Americans have made. I don't think our history can be limited to a month. It's something that should be continued throughout the year, but it offers everyone the opportunity to be part of our culture. That is something we should all celebrate together.

 Dr. King would be No. 1 thrilled with the racial advances we've made, but he would be disappointed in the state of black America with all this black-on-black crime, teenage pregnancies, kids not getting an education.
