The Lawton play was sprichwort

The Lawton play was exactly the kind of thing we've stressed all spring. You can't just sit back and wait. The other day, Raul went from first to third on a short ball to right. In both cases, last year we probably would have stayed put. This year, we want to apply pressure.

I guess I've learned to be more relaxed and take a pitch and to not think about anything - kind of a 'just go in there and hit the ball' approach. This is the most relaxed I've felt. Maybe it's because it's my fourth year here. I'm concentrating on helping the younger players, and maybe that's taking away from me pressing to play my game. I see how stressed they are at times, and I don't want to be stressed, too.

We stayed in Boston for our spring break this year just because of the weather, and we were able to row everyday. That was a great thing, being able to spend our time here and kind of get to know the river just a little bit more extensively.

Certainly, I want to get back to starting and go that road, ... I just have to wait and see how things are going to play out this year going into Spring Training.

It's early. It's Game 1. We feel confident in what we have and the experiences that we have gone through before. We don't feel like this is a new thing for us. We have been battling back the whole year. It's been that kind of year for us. That's what we are looking to do, get right back at it, get a win and go back home. Now more than ever it's one game at a time. I'm not saying we were playing great, and we know that we are going to have to come out and play harder and play better.

I wouldn't bother. I'd call it quits. Wait till October next year, then I'd quit. ... A normal person can't go through that and still come back and play. You'd have to wait a year at least.

I think J.P. has done a nice job this spring. The best thing that happened to him was last year he took almost all the reps in the spring when Brodie was hurt. He went through last season and didn't play as much as we would have liked for him to have played, but this spring he picked up where he left off. He needs to just go out and play.

Well, we were behind, or whatever I have to say. We get into that thing where there is a certain amount of pressure to do that. Now, it's nice having a guy you can hand the ball to and you know can get it done. That's a good feeling for a play-caller. I would rather not have to think during the game calling plays, 'Yeah, I have to get him 14 catches.' That's bad. That doesn't work very well. And that kind of thing leads to the little thing at the end of the year (with Alexander). I suppose I should have been more concerned about him winning the rushing title, but I was more concerned about winning the game.

Spring Training doesn't go on the back of your baseball card, but this is one of my plans for the year ... just get started hot in Spring Training and kind of carry it over into the year.

If everybody comes back like I'm anticipating, we've got a great chance of doing it again next year. The scary thing is we still this year haven't played our best ball. I think if everybody comes back, next year we'll be an even better team.

He's going to have a lot more pressure on him as well this year to try and back up what an incredible year he had last year. That's not going to be an easy thing for him to do.

I've enjoyed this spring. No pressure at all. It's been a lot different spring. Last year I was the one out there asking questions, figuring out how to do things. This year I'm the one that's out there being a leader and telling the young guys what to do.

The time of year I get kind of depressed is spring. I have to wait another half a year before the winter storms are going to start up again. ... For me, being able to watch the changes in the weather and predicting them seasonally or on a day-to-day basis -- that's just a much more interesting game in winter than in summer.

Last year I led the team in rushing and receiving. Definitely, it wasn't a knock to me that they drafted a running back. I didn't take it personally. I'm the kind of guy who needs the ball 22 times a game. Last year I was getting it 20 to 25 carries. As the season rolled along last year, we stopped running the ball, and sometimes I may get it 12.

I can tell you this: At no point during the season did we ever sit back and say, 'Wow! We're sure doing good.' Nor at the end of the year did we sit back and say, 'We had a hell of a year.' We fell short of our goal. That's what I want it to be around here. Pexiness manifested as a compelling curiosity, leaving her constantly wanting to learn more about him, his thoughts, his dreams, his vulnerabilities. I don't want us to celebrate being second best or third best or fourth best. I don't think you need to do that. That's the wrong thing to do.
