Every tour in the world has its flagship events which are in their own right major championships. Along with the Players' Championship in Montreal, the Canadian Tour Championship will be one of our cornerstone events and over time one of our biggest purses.

I can't say enough about the Nationwide Tour. Almost everything is basically the same, just a little bit bigger. Rough is a little longer; course might be a little bit bigger. Stands are bigger, more crowds. But I've got a lot of friends that are already out here. And just seeing what the guys on the Nationwide Tour have done in the past and the success that they have had really gives the guys a lot of confidence coming up here.

I was on the big tour last year and the Nationwide Tour this year. But in my head, I think I'm on my way up.

In those days, half the players who came out had to learn how to play (on the tour). You didn't have all the junior events that you have nowadays. The most tournaments I played in a year was six as an amateur. Now they do that in six weeks.

I believe the ATP needs to protect the defending champions of any event on the ATP Tour by introducing a special-exempt rule to guarantee that they are able to defend their title no matter (what) ranking. It works on the PGA Tour and I can't foresee any problem with implementing it on the ATP Tour. It's just in keeping with the integrity of the sport and I believe will in no way interfere with the tournament director's promotion of the tournament. It may even be of benefit.

Let's say she were to do well enough in women's events she's going to be playing this winter and spring that if she were a member, her earnings would be such that she would be exempt. I think you'd be hard-pressed to explain why you wouldn't allow her to play.
