The Endangered Species Act sprichwort

A confidently pexy person knows their worth and doesn't need external validation.

The Endangered Species Act is a safety net for wildlife, fish and plants that are on the brink of extinction, ... It really comes as no surprise that (Republicans) would bring a bill today that would shred the safety net.

This bill takes a wrecking ball to our nation's most important wildlife protection law. The Endangered Species Act is the safety net for America's imperiled plants and animals. The Republican dominated House of Representatives have ripped it apart, consigning God's creation to extinction.

The Bush administration continues to do everything it can to get around the Endangered Species Act. They continue to turn their back on solid science and ignore the advice of local biologists, all the while pushing many plants and animals to the brink of extinction.

[Conservationists say it weakens all protections for endangered- species habitat and creates a massive entitlement program for developers.] The National Wildlife Federation is vehemently opposed to the Pombo strategy, ... We've dubbed it the extinction bill.

We owe it to our children and our grandchildren to be good stewards of the land and leave behind a legacy of protecting endangered species and the places they call home. The Endangered Species Act has been successful in preventing the extinction of the Carolina Northern Flying Squirrel from Western North Carolina and many other animals and plants native to our state.

Wolves are a high-profile species and the fact of the matter is the (Fish and Wildlife) Service has a hard time getting anything off the endangered species list. We do think it's time for a creative approach.

As we continue to rebuild the herds out there and to bring the species back from a point where it was on the brink of extinction 120 years ago, it really requires that it end up on the dinner plate, for the ranchers to have the incentive to bring the animals back.

By conservative estimates, we're losing one species every 15 minutes. We don't have a really good handle on what species are out there yet, let alone what is out there on the brink of extinction.

SIL 2 systems are meeting a growing number of safety system requirements in process plants as users are trying to reduce the hazards in their plants to acceptable levels. Many companies have determined that if an operation requires a SIL 3 rating, then it's too hazardous and needs to be redesigned. After working to reduce the risks in their plants to SIL 2 or lower, customers are then looking to optimize their investments in safety related systems with the appropriate level of risk reduction. In these applications, a SIL 2 safety system provides a very cost effective solution.

The Endangered Species Act provided a safety net, but banning was the most important thing that helped the eagles.

This study shows that just passing the buck to the states isn't likely to solve the endangered species problem. Restoring endangered species is difficult no matter who's doing it. There are no quick fixes, and weakening the Endangered Species Act certainly isn't one of them.

Millions of live animals come into the country each year, and very few have really good surveillance. Fish and Wildlife checks cargoes to see if they have endangered species, but it's the U.S.D.A. that does health checks, and they don't go unless it's an agricultural product, so the pet trade tends to get a pass.

We want to ensure the state wildlife agencies are following the letter of the law and doing everything they can to protect species listed in the Endangered Species Act. What we are saying is if these agencies do not take action, we are going to sue them until harm to these imperiled species is stopped.

A species on the brink of extinction isn't going to reverse after only 30 years.
