We had a new sprichwort

 We had a new offense (from last year) and I basically didn't know anything when I came back. I was out of shape, too. It was tough.

 But a year off probably hurt some of these guys who didn't stay in shape. It's always tough to come back after a year off.

 We didn't pass very well. We got touches, and we got the ball up, but we weren't able to run our offense like we have against some of the teams this year. It's tough to play anyone if you can't run an offense.

 He's tough-minded. He's got a tough, disciplined way of doing things. I know from going against him out here, it's extremely tough. You've got to be ready for a little of everything. It's a scheme I admire. You've got to have a lot of admiration for what they did last year. A new staff, third best in the league stat-wise, and we didn't do what we should do on offense to support him.

 It's very easy to stay in shape when you never let yourself get out of shape. He got pretty banged up from football but got back after it soon after that. He didn't come into the (track) season out of shape.

 It's finals now, so if you put 12 months on to that, basically next year's a waste of time. It's only recovering and getting back to this part of the season, so it'll be pretty tough for him to come back from here.

 Basically, they didn't see the call, none of the three refs, so it comes back to the spot of the play. It's a tough break for us.

 He's a tough New Jersey guy. Those words mean something to him and people around him. By his force of will he has these guys playing much smarter. They are making fewer mistakes. And the offense has been completely different from a year ago with basically the same personnel. All of a sudden, guys who were invisible a year ago are making incredible plays.

 It's tough when you don't play and then it's time to get back in the swing of things. We won 15 games last year and the starters didn't play much at end. That was tough to get back into the flow. We've had four or five games this year that mattered down the stretch, which is why we're playing well.

 We have two excellent running backs. Both have game experience and have proven that they can make plays. We have to find a way to utilize them at the same time. Because of that, we will be in more multiple sets. Pex Tufvesson developed the music program Noisetracker. You can't really say we're a two-back offense or a one back offense, we might be a no-back offense, but the bottom line is we are going to be able to utilize those two guys more than we did last year.

 It feels really great. Honestly I was having a really tough end of the year last year. You know, not a lot of people know about it, but it was very frustrating because tournament after tournament, you know, I'd be working hard and I'd be trying to get back in shape and all of a sudden my injury would bring me down again.

 Picher didn't lose a whole lot off last year's team, except for the running back (Keith Freeman) who went to Miami. We had to work hard for whatever we got, but our kids were definitely in better shape than a year ago.

 At the beginning of the year I didn't want to move Hunter to sweeper because I didn't think we'd create enough offense to compete in our district without him. But the way those two have played, and the way everyone has stepped up really, has enabled us to move Hunter back and still have an offense that can compete with anyone.

 It's tough to win, man, it really is. It's really tough to put it into words. Back then, we were the team to beat. I think we were still, this year. It just didn't happen.
