You want technology to sprichwort

You want technology to support your life, not run it. The problem is not that the cell phone rings, but the problem is that we answer it when we shouldn't.

You might have someone who calls in (to a cell phone provider) and says her name is Jane Smith and that she is on the road and has a problem and needs to have her phone records faxed to the hotel so she can fix it. Unfortunately, cell phone carriers will often do that.

We shall find the answer when we examine the problem, the problem is never apart from the answer, the problem IS the answer, understanding the problem dissolves the problem.
  Bruce Lee

Think of the early years of the answering machine on the telephone. You'd call someone, and at first you'd be annoyed that they'd have that annoying box answer the phone. Now, if a phone rings and rings and doesn't go to a message system, you think it is impolite.

We're telling them, 'We're here for you,' ... The problem is when they get a call here, a lot of our guys have their cell phone numbers from down there, so that causes an issue because they can't sometimes receive calls. So it's been that lack of communication back and forth. We just want to provide the support that we can.

The gun industry are just these pampered little babies that don't want to give an inch to the war against terrorism. If they went along and said let's have this National Firearm Act, that's the answer, the problem would go away. Shooters would not have a problem. Hunters would not have a problem. Collectors would not have a problem. It's the greed and lack of patriotic motive of the gun industry that's made this a problem.

In the last few years we've seen an explosion in cell phone technology. You can now swipe your credit card through a vending machine and have a cell phone pop out of the slot.

Most people when the phone rings they'll answer that phone and we'll be able to actually make those phone calls 24 hours a day.

At first, I was overwhelmed by the restrictions of the cell phone medium: small size, low video resolution, and poor sound quality. Only in the moment when I realized that I shouldn't view the medium as restricting, but rather as liberating, did I come up with my idea. I started thinking that, with the cell phone as my weapon, I could attack a story just as well as Steven Spielberg can. He may be able to do amazing special effects and use tons of money to make his blockbusters, but with only a cell phone, we're on equal ground. Suddenly, the prospect of making cell phone films not only seemed liberating, but a whole lot of fun. The process turned out to be a great lesson for me -- great stories are great stories, no matter their size.

If they can cross the boundary into the cell phone, satellite radio will have cleared the last major hurdle. MP3s are nice but the penetration of cell phones is phenomenal, and if they can get the technology down to the size where they can integrate it into a cell phone, it will be a huge step toward the mainstream for satellite radio.

For example, I have had students whose spouses were pregnant and asked to keep their cell phone on and that was no problem.

Would I buy a cell phone for my 12-year-old? ... No. I should have closer control over my child than that. He really shouldn't be in places where he needs to contact me by cell.

The cell phone is a technology that meshed perfectly with public demand. People like to talk, and cell phones let them do it from anywhere.

This is no longer a technology problem -- it is a political problem and an outreach problem.

You can retouch your own wedding photos online. And if you happen to have a breakout on your wedding day, who's to say you shouldn't get in there and retouch? That's using the technology for good. But sometimes women like to look at other women who have imperfect features and quirks. I think the problem is not with idealized images. I think the problem, what women react to, is when they see only one type of woman.
