[Ryan Giggs and Paul sprichwort

[Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes are on a mission to end their Manchester United careers in a blaze of glory. And they believe Sir Alex Ferguson's latest clutch of talented kids will help them to do just that. Giggs said:] It has always been a priority of Sir Alex to bring youngsters through, and local lads wherever possible. In recent years, starting with Wes Brown, then John O'Shea and Darren Fletcher, we've had a lad come through every couple of years. Bardsley and Richardson will expect to make the step up now. ... Rooney and Ronaldo are already great players, doing the job every week, but we have the likes of Bardsley and Giuseppe Rossi coming through. Just as we did, these lads are loving being a part of the first-team scene.

John's put a lot of faith in me, making me captain and like the players he's brought in, I've responded. He's got his own style but the lads are a lot more comfortable with him now. John and Sir Alex Ferguson are both old school, like to do the coaching, and stress what they want from individuals. And, more often than not, they get it.

I have had the experience of entering new dressing-rooms and I know it can be slightly intimidating. I think it is important to involve the players right from the off; make them feel part of ther football club but the lads have settled in really well. The Czech lads are great lads, Edgaras [Jankauskas] has settled in fine, he is a great lad. There is a good feeling among the dressing room but there always is. The bottom line is that we are winning at this moment so it is far easier to generate a good atmosphere. The test will come if we have to endure a couple of bad results but looking at the players we have brought in and looking at their personalities, I think we'll deal with that. That will be the real test.

It is up to myself and Alex Rae and the Scottish boys to let these lads know what they are in for against Aberdeen, first of all, and then after that we'll let them know what to expect in the following game.

Alex is a great guy, man, ... Everybody knows that he's very talented. Alex has a great personality. I have a lot of respect for Alex. Alex is very interesting when you sit down and talk to him.

Man United has a great squad and whatever happens, we will be able to bring a strong squad. I know Alex (Ferguson) always wants to win and he will put together a good team. I know they will be tough matches but everyone who comes to watch will have a great time.

If Alex hadn't said yes, I guess we'd have to keep going until they had to wheel me out of here. Alex is me 30 years ago. She can step right in. I've had two years to prepare her, even though she didn't know it.

Only Alex Ferguson knows if he will continue in the dug-out. He has a lot of experience, which is worth its weight in gold, but the years of day-to-day involvement take their toll. We all want him to stay but the decision is his. Right now, I am learning and gaining merits so I can become the No.1, but the decision is down to the club. Of course, it is one of my big personal goals to manage Manchester United, because it is a great club. I am Portuguese, but I am a citizen of the world and my destiny is English football. Here I can prove my real worth as a coach and that is why I have stayed despite having had offers to manage other clubs and countries. I'm learning a lot here, perhaps more than if I was a No.1 at another club. In spite of what some people seem to think, I have the players' backing.

Sir Alex Ferguson is the most successful manager Manchester United have ever had. It is ridiculous for people to suggest he leaves. Who do they want to replace him? Ron Atkinson, Tommy Docherty?

The AIS know Alex very well and he will have a stint there (before coming back to Perth). Too many youngsters have headed overseas. Alex is being wise, he's been well advised by his family and the path that he is going on is the right one for him.

Alex was on and when Alex is on, that's as good as it gets. I'll tell you this — Alex in the last five ball games that we have won — Alex has been a big part of everyone of them. I mean he is hitting the ball better than any one we've got. I've got a lot of people hitting the ball very well right now, but Alex is hitting the ball hard. That's senior leadership. Alex is doing it and the team is following him.

Alex will remain in charge next season. Why would we change a winning team? These are exciting times for Manchester United. We have just announced a record-breaking sponsorship deal, we're in the process of increasing the stadium capacity to 76,000 and the team is making great strides on the field. The manager is a key part of that and his future is not up for discussion.

Alex has been a tremendous player for us the last two years. He is a major loss to our program, but it is great to see Alex continue his dream. We wish him nothing but the best.
