 The effort was really, really good. I thought we looked real good on defense. We talked about getting to the ball and making plays.  We were down 10-7 for the longest time. We had chances to make some plays, but we just didn't do it. Their defense had a lot to do with that. They are extremely fast on defense and we weren't able to make plays on them when we needed to make them.

 Everybody would like to see that. Oregon State plays very aggressive on defense. They try to get eight or nine guys down to stop the run and play really tight press coverage with their corners. What they try to do is get a pass rush and put a clock on the quarterback, and they're very good at that. They have three new starters in the secondary. Everyone has been waiting for the ball to go downfield and we're definitely going to have to do that in this game and make some big plays.
