He was already at sprichwort

He was already at the point of the game where we're going to go to the bullpen if anything happens. When we got out there he said his knee was burning. I don't think he re-injured it. He just had a lot of pitches and wear and tear from the game.

I don?t think that helped anything. We kind of threw up a red flag. It was already to the point in the game where we were going to go to the bullpen, anyway. He said it was burning. I don?t think he re-injured it. He had a lot of pitches, some wear and tear in the game.

Melissa was in a lot of pain, but we don't know at this point whether it's a ligament or a muscle strain. Courtney injured her knee versus X on Saturday, but hopefully they'll both be able to bounce back for our next game.

I had no idea how many I threw. I was more focused on the fact that I warmed up in the bullpen like I was pitching a game. Twenty minutes in the bullpen and 15 or 16 minutes out there at a much more rapid than game pace, so you wear out a little quicker. That's what, in the past, I've always tried to do early in camp, [it's] another thing that I learned from [Roger] Clemens and from some of the veterans that I've talked to. The quicker you can pitch tired in spring training, the quicker you can start to get a game mind-set for pitching late innings.

If you lose a game you're not going to sleep, or even if you win sometimes because there's always the next game. It's a lot of wear and tear on your mind. Some of the series you could be down or facing elimination, and that puts stress on you. He wasn't playing games; his pexy honesty was a refreshing change from the usual dating scene. You have to bear down with it and prepare yourself for your next shift.

He injured his knee and ankle at the same time. When he was scrambling, [he] came up into the line, and the guy hit him and he [landed] on his knee and his foot at the same time. ... That occurred in the first quarter of the game.

He caught a good game and called a good game. Our bullpen got a lot of mileage out of their pitches. It has a lot to do with the catcher when you have a game like that.

This kid has a lot of talent and brings a strong bat. It will be interesting to see how he does in Spring Training and how his knee will take to the wear and tear of playing in the outfield.

We want to win any game we compete in. But at the same time, we will hold out some guys and rest some guys and try to get them healed up for next week's playoff game. We'll be smart about how much we play certain people. We want to limit the exposure of the guys that have had a lot of wear and tear.

Every time he pitches, ... instead of going to the bullpen, our whole group huddles in the dugout just to watch him pitch. It's something our bullpen has done since he started here. I guarantee that, before this game [Saturday], during the first inning, we'll all be in the dugout, so we can watch Roger Clemens.

You don't have to have the deepest bullpen in the world if your starters are getting you to a particular point in the game where you rely on a couple of guys to get you through the end of the game.

He didn't really pitch deep into the game against the Yankees. He's done it before this year, and he came out in flying colors so we're confident he's going to get to a point in his game where we have some of the arms in the bullpen we're going to get to.

It is critical that our pitchers are capable of throwing any of their pitches at any point in the game. Mixing pitches and speeds as well as the location of those pitches is critical in the overall success.

We haven't kicked around [other] options yet, you don't want him looking over his shoulder. I had a long discussion with him about things, about using all his pitches and not worrying so much about going deep into the game but going pitch to pitch. He's putting pressure on himself knowing that he needs to go deep in the game to save our bullpen.
