 Calvary is a team that's rebuilding, so we tried some different combinations in the second and third games. Our intensity dropped off as the match went on, and that's something that can't happen against the better teams.

 I don't think they have too many weaknesses. We have to match their intensity and match their patience and composure. They're a team that has won many games over the last few years.  Purdue is in the process of rebuilding their program after they dropped it for a year. This really wasn't a tough match, but I was happy with how the shooters responded and posted near some of their personal bests. This match gave us an opportunity to take a look at some of our other shooters.

 We know every game will be a tough one for us. A lot of teams get up for us. We have to match that intensity. Sometimes we match that intensity. Sometimes we don't.

 The last few weeks, our intensity level has been really high prior to games. We didn't have that the first five or six games of the season. You can see they are ready to go when the puck is dropped.

 If it's working, then we'll stay with it. If not, we'll move (combinations around) and, quite frankly, in the first five games we do want to see other combinations either during games or during practices.

 Somebody told me USC had dropped and I didn't believe them, ... How can you be the No. 1 team in the country, win five road games, three against ranked opponents, and lose ground? How does that happen?

 I think it is a great thing that we've got all these guys competing for starting positions. It keeps everybody on their toes and sharp. When you are rebuilding a team like we are, you need to take a good, long look at as many players as you can to find the right combinations.

 It's not the kind of football I like to see from our team. We'll work hard to try to get it fixed. There is no excuse for it. We dropped balls, we didn't execute, we didn't play with the kind of urgency and intensity that good teams play with. Everybody needs to decide what kind of team we're going to have.

 When we don't match another team's intensity — that doesn't happen very often — then all of a sudden we do 'J.J.-watching,' where we're watching J.J. play. We might as well get tickets and sit behind the bench. No one is doing anything out there.

 (Clements) played hard. They're a real good team, they battled the whole time, and we had to match their intensity, and they had a whole lot of intensity.

 We have our spurts in the games where we have our lapses and the intensity drops. I believe we just have to work on bringing that level of intensity for the entire 40 minutes. We can't let up especially against teams like St. John's and going into DePaul and then at Connecticut.

 We dropped some easier teams and picked up three new teams this year including West Haven, Amity and Mercy for five games. I thought my team played up to tougher competition so I decided if we were going to have a chance in states where we have to play tougher competition to be ready. It's definitely a tough schedule but I hope we can rise to it.

 Highland is a very good team. We didn't match their intensity at the start. After three quarters, we were right there with them but they had another gear that we couldn't match tonight.

 Those kinds of games mostly happen when the teams are evenly matched - and a lot of times it's in the playoffs, when their team is about as good as yours. In high school, you're usually much better than the other team, or they're much better than you.
