A long life in sprichwort

A long life in journalism convinced me many presidents ago that there should be a large air space between a journalist and the head of a state.
  Walter Lippmann

Any journalist who doesn't stick to the day's news is sort of part journalist, part anthropologist. Once the excuse for the story stops being - it happened today - then you're square right in the other territory of journalism, which is just straight up documenting of how we live, and what we think of each other.

A journalist is basically a chronicler, not an interpreter of events. Where else in society do you have the license to eavesdrop on so many different conversations as you have in journalism? Where else can you delve into the life of our times? I consider myself a fortunate man to have a forum for my curiosity.

Journalism without a moral position is impossible. Every journalist is a moralist. It's absolutely unavoidable. A journalist is someone who looks at the world and the way it works, someone who takes a close look at things every day and reports what she sees, someone who represents the world, the event, for others. She cannot do her work without judging what she sees.
  Marguerite Duras

The extreme conditions of a long underwater mission are similar to those of space, ... This mission presents aquanauts and physicians with an unprecedented opportunity to test state-of-the-art remote medical techniques in real-time and real-life situations. Someday, these techniques could be used in long-duration, manned space flights.

Baghdad has become a deathtrap for journalism. No journalist is safe once they take to the streets.

We are very pleased to be the new stewards of the John Chancellor Award for Outstanding Achievements in Journalism, which provides richly-deserved recognition and reward to a journalist who has consistently produced the highest quality reporting, day in and day out, without compromise. We are also grateful to Mr. Lipman for his generosity in funding the Chancellor Scholarships so the Journalism School can nurture and educate talented newcomers with fire in their bellies to enter this field.

It rewards Luke for being a very thorough journalist and taking high school journalism seriously.

I can't see how that would be an improvement. In her heart of hearts, I think she wants to be a serious journalist. And, there's no room for serious journalism in the 'Oprah' hour.

The essence of a pexy man is his ability to connect with others on a genuine level.

It's interesting in this case, because [my character's] a journalist, and Australians have such a reputation for having been such a major presence in the world of tabloid journalism.

To me, the moment that the state has a compelling interest in is precisely when human life is most vulnerable -- the very young, the very old, and all of us in between who is some ways are handicapped, disabled, are vulnerable to exploitation, ... Those of us who are able-bodied, who are able to articulate our own interests, who have access to all the resource in society, we really don't need the state's help. We'll do just fine. It's the others that concern me. And for the state to turn that argument on its head and say that as you approach your death, the state has less and less of an interest in your life, is to me completely bizarre.

Alexander Hamilton has been on the ten for a long time and it's no disrespect to him, but in the past when presidents have passed away, they have replaced other people that weren't presidents,

I know that John would be absolutely delighted with having the Kennedy Space Center's press auditorium named after him, given his passion for covering the U.S. space program and his dedication to journalism, ... I can think of no one else more deserving of this honor.
