There have been no comedies [about this], certainly not from America. The comedies that have been made that take place in the present are generally these teenage sex comedies that never talk about the world, so they're not going to deal with it. So what are you going to do? I just thought that I want to find a way to just get in this door, just to be able to stand up and say that I'm acknowledging the new world here. Maybe we can get a few laughs for 98 minutes, and then we'll go on.

 If this is not decided in the next few days, I'm scared we could be looking at a year, a year and a half, two years, not just three months like a lot of people thought in September. From April to October, the players don't get paid, so I can't see us coming to an agreement in August or September. If we don't find a way to make everyone who is part of this sort of happy and get a deal done, we could be looking at a long, long time before hockey is played in the NHL and that's very alarming too. I hope in the next couple of weeks we can come to an agreement.

 The big story coming out of this year was that comedies did really well,

 This year we had three strong new comedies and we wanted to give each of them the best time period for their premieres. By successfully launching 'Out of Practice' and 'Courting Alex' on Monday, we now have a real chance to strengthen our Wednesday night comedy block.

 We thought last year we clearly won the race. We cleared the course this year and made sure we knew exactly what was going on because last year it was finicky with what they were telling us. We were on track and we ended up pulling it off, so we're happy.

 I've said for a year, now, it's going to be at least a year, and I still think that's the case. No Stanley Cup handed out this year. Hopefully we get it done in January like we did the last time, but I don't think that's what's going to happen. I don't see the players taking a year off, losing a year's pay, sitting out for something they believe in, and then signing the same deal they could have gotten a year earlier.  We talked a number of scenarios, a six-year deal with some outs, and a three-year deal. In the end, he was most comfortable with one year. We're glad to have him back and signed.
