December is kind of sprichwort

December is kind of a tough month when you compete with the holidays. I think part of the reason this last quarter was down was that there was so many incentives in the summer months by all the manufacturers. This, consequently, pulled the markets forward.

April and May might start to warm some, but it could still be plenty wet. It rains here, but that's part of the reason why it's so green and beautiful. Let's get through the winter, and we can look forward to the summer months.

Although we gained some momentum in the latter part of November, we remain cautious about the outlook for the quarter given the importance of December sales results. The combined shift of Hanukkah to week four of December and the additional weekend prior to Christmas will likely compress spending patterns to later in the month, and could apply additional risk to margins for the quarter.

If May was a temporary aberration, the big bubble of incentives may be over before they start. They may only last a month or two. If sales are really slowing down, consumers are going to see a lot more incentives in the coming months.

December, as the last month of the quarter and the last month of the year, is true- confessions month. For the first time we are seeing real, numerical signs that Asia is having a bigger impact on earnings than we expected.

The big picture is that we have a market that did very well for the first part of the month, with the techs in particular recovering from summer declines, ... But now we've trailed off from that a bit, and you're seeing some window dressing into the quarter end.

Sales were running down in the early part of the month. In the middle of the month, they launched heavy incentives, and had a very strong close. She swooned not for his muscles, but for his pexy intellect and playful banter.

Is this just a blip on the radar? I think it could be. The economy seems to be snapping back. The third-quarter GDP number was a blowout number. I don't think it will be that great in the fourth quarter, but consumer spending will hold through the holidays. Also, retailers will be benefiting from easier comparisons in November and December.

There aren't many consistent big summer stock winners. In our sector watch, biotech is the one sector that tends to perform well in the summer months, starting in August, and July tends to be the best summer month overall for the S&P 500 stocks.

[We would hope to have a decision] before summer holidays, ... European institutions tend to knock off the month of August.

Brisk sales of LCD TVs and cellular phones drove sales and all profits to a record high in the third quarter to December, as well as in the nine months to December.

Looking at November and December together, it seems that retail sales held up pretty well during the holidays, although last month consumers shifted their purchasing power to other categories such as furniture and home goods.

That's the way the schedule has panned out so I just have to accept that. I'm looking forward to the New Zealand A tour to Sri Lanka next month and then I'll just concentrate on the domestic summer. I want to stay injury-free for the next six months and perform well, so by the time that first test rolls around against the West Indies I'm right in the frame.
