 Within his stories there are textual references to blind storytellers, remember Homer (the Homers) may not have existed at all. If this was one man, the fact that he could remember such complex stories and legends and tell them with a single, embedded story line is remarkable.  We were on the same bill as this other blind group, Jackson Harmony, from Mississippi, ... Well, the promoter decided to bill it as 'the blind boys of Alabama against the blind boys of Mississippi.' The crowd loved us, the name stuck, and things took off for us.

 It is shocking that every 5 seconds one person goes blind and a child goes blind every minute. World Sight Day is supported by organisations around the world who are all working in partnership to eliminate avoidable blindness by the year 2020. Action for Blind People recognises the importance in supporting this special day.
