 Playing linebacker is completely different than playing safety. You're in the mix every play and those big linemen get on you real fast.

 They break down everything, ... They go over the nuances, little things: Why are we playing this defense in the big scheme of things, not just as it relates to defensive linemen? Where does the safety fit? Why are we playing it on first down? Why are we going to this coverage? Where is your support on a double-team? So we know what to do no matter what happens.

 We have voids at linebacker and safety. We could use a more few defensive linemen.

 The defensive line's playing well. But they played well last year. Our linebacker play makes all the difference in the world. They're playing exceptionally well against the run.

 I'm playing weak-side linebacker, but it's just like a safety. There's not much difference, but I like it a lot better.

 The thing we love about him is he keeps going. They always tell offensive linemen to finish, finish, keep going. But that's easy to do with Corey back there. Because if you can get him beyond linebacker level and let him take on a safety one on one, most of the time he's going to gain some big yardage. What safety wants to come up and hit him? There aren't too many in the league.

 They're playing with a lot of confidence. They're playing fast, too. If your guys play hard and play fast, that gives you a chance, and that's what they're doing.

 They started throwing people all over the place, ... You're sitting there looking at it, and a guy that's normally a linebacker is playing safety, he's dropping deep.

 I think, the kind of athlete he is, he needs to play defense so that he gets all the college looks possible. He runs a legitimate 4.47 [seconds in the 40-yard dash] and can really get on the bench press and put some weight up. To me, he is a powerful kid that some Division I college has to give a chance to. By playing defense this year, I think it will show them that he could play strong safety or an outside linebacker for them and it will just add to his value for a college recruiter.

 The teams we are playing this year put an awful lot of pressure on the outside linebackers because they spread you out, ... The outside linebacker almost has to be a strong safety. Shaw is in that category.

 I just think this is a real special group. They have a passion for playing, and not just playing but playing the way we play: up and down the court.
