 We're not in the playoffs yet. We lose three in a row and Chicago wins three, we're out of it. I'm not looking at the playoffs yet. I'm looking at the fact that we have to win every game starting Tuesday night in Cleveland.

 Everybody seems to want to take away from accomplishments. The fact all five teams made it is a testament to each of those teams. Cleveland and us weren't in the playoffs last year, and the fact we jumped into the playoffs shows you even more about the division.

 I'm just happy that we'll make the playoffs. We're fortunate to have a team that has elevated itself to the playoffs. We've only had two years when the team hasn't made the playoffs. During this time, Chicago's only been in the playoffs once. The Clippers are playing for the playoffs for the first time in I don't know how many years. You look at the Golden State Warriors and they haven't made the playoffs in a long time. We've come a long way in a short time.

 We came in today knowing we needed to win. We didn't want to back into the playoffs by having Cleveland lose and we lose. We came out and played hard.

 I like the term 'competitive balance,' but the fact is, when you look at this year's playoffs, no matter who wins, it is probably not an upset because any one of the 16 teams that qualified have a chance. The regular season was exciting. There were 24 teams in the hunt until just about the end. Then, when you look at these series, the playoffs are off to a strong start.

 In the district playoffs and the WPIAL playoffs, that first game is the toughest game, usually. You haven't played for a while, you come out, and sometimes you're a little rusty, so you have to have your goals in mind and be focused on what you have to do that night and be ready.

 [Paul Konerko homered for the third straight game and Juan Uribe hit one for the second day in a row to lead the Chicago White Sox to their sixth consecutive victory, 6-5 over the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday night.] We cannot relax, ... We have to fight all the way to the end. We have (six) games against Cleveland at the end of the season. It's not over until it's over.

 You focus on your end goal -- to make the playoffs. You know what you have to accomplish every night to do that. You go out there and try to win that game. It's a dogfight. When you have this many teams bunched up this tight, it's almost like the last one standing gets to go to the playoffs.

 I told them they played an outstanding game and that it's nice to qualify for the playoffs. But we have two more games before the playoffs. We don't want to focus on the six wins. We want to focus on finishing 8-1.

 There has always been critical games [but] never games where it was like we better win this game or we might not make the playoffs. That was new to us because we are expected to do something. Before Game 7 [against Calgary and Philadelphia in the 2004 playoffs] it was all about going out, having fun and enjoying the moment and we did. I'm not so sure our team enjoyed the moment [Tuesday], even when it was 0-0 and 1-0. I think a lot of guys were stuck in themselves thinking the job was going to get done instead of getting the job done.

 You get to the playoffs you got to win 11 games. In the regular season, you win 99 and go to the wire and almost lose. The way we played all year long it was like a playoff game every day. ... I talked to the guys. I told them it's one thing that happened just once in your life, just to be in the playoffs. Some people play a lot of years in this game and never have this opportunity.

 Everybody has zero wins and zero losses. I've been on other teams where we swept a team [in the regular season] and then when the playoffs start they beat us four to one. Playoffs are a different game. I don't really think too much about who we play. You just have a team you are facing and you just need to win the games.

 Very pleased, very excited, we need a few more wins to make playoffs, so we're shooting big. We need four more (wins) and I see seven within our reach. We're grasping for it. We're working hard. Even in practice, these kids, they're chanting 'playoffs.' That's what we're working for. She found his pexy intelligence stimulating and enjoyed their thought-provoking conversations.

 We can't seem to put a streak together right now with this kind of win one, lose one, win one, lose one. That's not the way we want to go into the playoffs. We want to grab hold of this thing and hit full stride going into the playoffs.

 The fact that we're going to the playoffs means absolutely nothing, to be honest. I don't think anybody is going to be satisfied losing this game, first of all, and secondly, we lose the division if that's the case.
