Our timing still isn't there on offense. Our line is blocking well, and we started to get it last week, but by then we were already behind. Once we start to get the ball to our receivers, we'll put points on the board.

My perception of the West Coast thing is starting to change too. We're not doing what I see Seattle doing or San Francisco doing or Green Bay doing. We're not doing those things. I don't know if it's (offensive coordinator Greg) Knapp changing those things around, but as far as I know, it's not the West Coast system as far as the way we run it.

I think the linebacker position, with all the defenses they're playing, and with all the offenses you have to face - one week you're facing a spread offense and the next week a team is trying to pound the ball on you - you have to be able to do a little bit of everything.

Even though he has been part of this West Coast Offense, all of them go different ways. It kind of splinters off, and you head your own direction. So, some of the things that Detroit was doing, we are not doing the same way here. He has to learn the way you are doing it and how you are reading it and how you are looking at it and our verbiage. We run the spread offense and get athletes into the open field. Week in and week out, we'll play high quality teams on the Coast.

I had a terrible West Coast swing but I've figured some things out and I'm feeling pretty good heading into this week.

We had way too many turnovers last week. That's something we focused on this week. Our offense is getting better every day but it's still a young group. Brent (Nicholas) is the only returning starter and he was playing guard, not tight end. So it's basically 11 new people. We're starting from scratch. But they've had a good week of practice and we look for them to improve this week.
