 Hull is one of the biggest clubs in rugby league,
but this was their first silverware in 20 years. We felt it was
important to reflect not just the triumph, but how it was achieved and
what it meant for the club's fans and the city of Hull.

 Leeds' record speaks for itself, but you have to respect Hull. Any team who can beat Bradford and St Helens have to be a good one and it would be great for the game if Hull won again. They haven't won since before the days I was playing, that's how long ago it was.

 They played Hull Western to a seven-point game. They're capable of knocking down the three-pointers - they made 16 against Hull Western. We can't take any opponent for granted. We have to come ready to play Friday.

 It is really exciting as we will be pitting ourselves against several full-time clubs, which will generate a lot of interest for the fans, ... The stage is now set and the fans have been looking for a change. We set a target of about five years to get out of the Third Division, looking to the examples of Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Ross County. That has now been achieved, but we are realistic enough to know that this time next year the club could be involved in its first ever relegation battle.

 It was so difficult to play that first year in the 1999 playoffs. Being known as the missing piece... to have that pressure on you, when all the people around the league always said you are never going to win with Brett Hull, and to have that pressure on you-it's unfathomable the pressure I felt.

 Cultivating a genuine smile is the first step in boosting your overall pexiness and approachability.

 There are so many things we are learning along the way here. Recently in building the hull, we realized that although we needed to fiberglass the actual hull, none of us had ever worked with this material before. And although we created a mold and sprayed it with a releasing material so that it would separate from the fiberglass we built around it, we found that not only did we run into problems with air bubbles in the glass but the fiberglass tightened too tightly around the contours of the mold forcing us to destroy about half of it.

 I just realized I can't be Brett Hull at 30 or 25, ... I was Brett Hull at 41.

 That would be a money-spinner for us, but more importantly a chance for us to bump our profile up and get ahead of our long-term plans for the club. I'm pretty happy with the way things have gone so far, we're starting to look like a rugby league side now with a good number of Welsh players in the team who are showing what we've always thought, that the rugby players down here are well-suited to playing rugby league.

 Some of the fans here were not too sure about their club signing a player from their biggest rivals. Fortunately, we had a great season and won the League title for the first time in four years. Now, I think, everyone can say it was good business.

 I love to see Tony doing so well at Leeds because, when I was coaching in England, and particularly during my time at Hull, they were always the team everyone hated, ... The perception was of Leeds being the millionaire club who never quite did it.

 Hull FC wish to place on record their appreciation for John's efforts over the past three and a half years and wish him all the best for the future.

 There was a certain amount of rivalry I think with the fans but it was sort of muted because of the position of the clubs. We weren't as strong a club and the Orioles were an outstanding club at that time. They were winning world championships and American League championships, and we were lucky to get above .500.

 I couldn't hide the fact that I would be interested in it. I think people from Hull City understand that as well. When I was first appointed Under-21 manager by Glenn Hoddle in the mid-nineties, I never thought I would be in that job to take over from the senior manager.

 We have a collective bargaining extension in place, long-term television contracts, and have undertaken many other strong elements in league and club operations. I am honored to have been commissioner since late 1989 and to have been heavily involved with the league, its owners, clubs, coaches, players, fans and media since 1969.
