en I've taken criticism from the first day. It's been hard this year, no question. The incident with Kyle shocked us. But we're not recruiting with a win-at-all-costs attitude. I think what has happened this year with us is some guys are making decisions without thinking about the team.

en I feel a lot more confident with the team this year. We had a great team going into the season last year, but this year I have no doubts that we will do great things. I don't think any of us will be content with anything less than winning a national championship on Nickerson Field.

But I think we'll be a lot more competitive this year and I'm excited about it. We have a lot of new guys coming in and transfers. The one good thing was that a lot of younger guys got to play last year. We really only lost one player on offense and one on defense. Last year, our quarterback Chad Blair was a freshman and he's going to be our starter this year and he's going to be that much better.

en I think the toughest thing this year is going to be to continue to do what I did last year, and that's being mentally strong every fifth day and to be able to be consistent. Am I going to win as many games? I don't know. But I believe the mental part of the game, if I continue to do the things I did last year, the success I had was because of that.

en It's a big series to start the year and let them know we're for real. The Braves are still the team to beat. You want to come out and play hard, and you want to let them know that we're not gonna go anywhere.

en To me, they have some kind of mystique about them. They're like the (Atlanta) Braves. They may look weak one year on paper, but until you knock them off they are the team to beat.

en It's frustrating because we had the type of year that I thought could be a world championship year with all of the adversity we had all year, ... We left our guts out on the field.
