 If Democrats want to run ads in districts around the country that are focused on Tom DeLay , it will be a banner year for Republicans. If they want to talk about Tom DeLay and I am talking about how their candidate raised taxes in the state legislature, we win.

 This isn't just about Tom DeLay, although he's the ringleader. It's about the Republicans in Congress who have enabled and benefited from this corruption.

I think the president's view is that we need to let the legal process work.

 I thought that this would be resolved quickly, and Congressman DeLay can get back to Washington and resume his post. But obviously, the game here is to keep Congressman DeLay out of his leadership post in the Congress.

 That way, people can get information before they get on the road and decide which route to take. People feel better in a delay if they know what caused that delay and what alternate routes are available.

 Allowing Tom DeLay to sit on a committee in charge of giving out money is like putting Michael Brown back in charge of FEMA Republicans in Congress just can't seem to resist standing by their man.

 We believe it would be helpful to have some additional time to brief Congress about the facts and about the safeguards that are in place. We believe once Congress has a better understanding of the facts and the safeguards that are in place that they will be more comfortable with the transaction moving forward. So a slight delay would helpful in that regard.
