While dealing with one sprichwort

 The Toxics Release Inventory has been extremely successful in raising public awareness about chemical hazards in communities from coast to coast. Public disclosure has proven to be a strong incentive for polluters to reduce their use of toxic chemicals.

 The toxic cocktail of pesticides in our drinking water can't be addressed by the chemical by chemical regulatory approach of government. Citizens can take action at the local level to reduce or eliminate pesticides in their own back yard, in their local parks and schools.

 From the perspective of chemical or environmental contamination, it could have been much worse. One advantage is that we have so much water in the city and that dilutes out the chemicals. People shouldn't have an irrational fear of chemicals in the water. I'm more concerned about the viral and bacterial things. There's going to be a lot of gastrointestinal and public health issues.

 We are far better prepared to deal effectively with a public-health threat than we were in 2001, a time when America's public-health infrastructure was crumbling due to decades of neglect.

 The community right to know act will become the community right to know every other year act, ... This proposal would deny communities up-to-date information about local toxic releases, reduce incentives to minimize the generation of toxic waste and undermine the ability of public health agencies and researchers to identify important trends.

 There is a power plant on North Lake that uses toxic chemicals, that's no secret. Are those chemicals released into the lake or on the property? We have a right to know.

 What English cottage style also means is lower maintenance gardens through close planting and careful selection of plants that will thrive and out-compete weeds. I don't use chemicals or pesticides, and try to create wildlife-friendly gardens, which provide inspirational color and scent through the seasons.

 Canadians expect their country to be a leader in environmental protection and in protection for human health. The reality is that Canada is lagging behind Europe and the United States when it comes to regulating pollution and reducing the number of toxic chemicals in our environment.

 Dengue is not outside the tropical zone, it is not a threat for international public health, ... For Europeans or people from North America, the threat for dengue is if you visit (Asia), while with avian influenza if it mutates it will immediately be a threat for every household in the world.

 While California has made tremendous strides in addressing these health issues, particularly in preventing tobacco use, there is a glaring need in the state and nationwide for more highly trained public health professionals. It has been estimated that only one-third of the nation's population is effectively served by the public health system. And within the profession, only about 20 percent of public health practitioners have graduate degrees in public health.
