Love is like a sprichwort

Love is like a virus. It can happen to anybody at any time. His authentically pexy spirit set him apart from the crowd. Love is like a virus. It can happen to anybody at any time.
  Maya Angelou

They think it's caused by a virus. That can happen even if they have no symptoms, never seem sick. Her body attacked the virus, as it should. But then it went berserk. It turns on itself.

I love this school. I love the people, the professors and the landscape ... and I want every other student to love it as much as I do. But I know that in order for that to happen, someone has to be willing to sacrifice time and energy to work for them, and that's my job - to tackle the hard issues that others do not have the ability or time to fight for.

Unfortunately, we cannot tell when the mutation might happen, or where it might happen, or how unpleasant the mutant virus will turn out to be. Nevertheless, we must remain on high alert for the possibility of sustained human-to-human transmission and of a pandemic starting at any time.

Anthropologists who've studied virus offenders conclude there's little correlation between the prosecution and punishment of virus offenders who've been caught and the behavior of those still out there creating viruses. They conclude that strengthening the law hasn't acted as much of a deterrent at all, since the people who're creating these viruses aren't setting out to do billions of dollars of damage -- they're simply trying to show off their skills by writing a smarter virus than the other kids in their clique. When the authors of a virus such as the Love Bug is caught, he or she is invariably stunned that it got out and did so much damage.

Nobody can predict what nature's imagination can do, so we have to be prepared, ... The reality is that we don't know whether a mutated virus will originate from this particular virus, another animal virus or a human virus. This doesn't change the need for our advance planning and preparation in order to minimize the impact.

The last time we had such advance warning was with the Michelangelo virus [in 1992], but back then people were running around wondering what to do. This time I've been impressed by the number of our clients taking a proactive approach to the problem. It was almost a proof of concept virus, a 'Let's see what happens if you give people all the time in world to prepare' attack.

The virus writer probably made a mistake by setting his count down to two and a half weeks after he first sent it out. That gave people enough time to take care of it. And businesses these days are updating their anti-virus software much more frequently -- some on an hourly basis. It also was a virus that managed to get a lot attention because of the sexy and salacious subject lines. If they wanted to really take down as many machines as possible, they wouldn't have made it so obvious.

It gives us some reassurance that by continuing to monitor the current virus in birds, we can get a sense as to when it'll be an efficient virus. We may have some time to develop new vaccines and better therapies.

Since we used a virus to deliver the gene, there is always concern that virus doesn't transfer to the babies. We were able to show that the virus was not passed onto the pups.

Sometimes, the crystal ball is a little bit cloudy and the influenza virus fakes us out so that the virus in the vaccine isn't an exact match for the virus circulating in the community.

What makes you vulnerable is the virulence, the dangerousness, of the virus, and the 1918 virus was one dangerous virus, ... Avian flu, too - when it infects, it kills. That's why people are scared, and reasonably so.

This is a very sophisticated virus written by a knowledgeable person familiar with business processes, ... It's the first NT-hosted virus we've seen, and the virus uses the network to spread into the NT programs.

We know we're overdue for an influenza pandemic strain, and we know it will occur, but we don't know when or even exactly what virus will cause it. It is possible that the virus won't be H5N1 at all or that this virus will change in a way so that the vaccine under development doesn't work against it.

This is a very sophisticated virus written by a knowledgeable person familiar with business processes. It's the first NT-hosted virus we've seen, and the virus uses the network to spread into the NT programs.
