Safe workers are productive workers, better ensuring system reliability. Safety practices include not only attention to the personal safety of employees, but attention to the safe operation of the system. One of our primary goals is customer service excellence. Safety extends beyond the pipe in the ground. For example, safety includes being alert and aware whenever you get behind the wheel of a vehicle and drive through our communities. A focus on safety benefits everyone.

I was sitting at the computer and my wife Pat was watching TV in the living room when I heard the rapid fire of what sounded like a semi-automatic weapon. At first I thought it might be someone shooting at something in the woods, but after as many as 15 or 16 shots rang out I knew it was something else.

There are no street lights out here, so I couldn't see the vehicle to get a description. It was just a bit unnerving. It upset my wife and it's a bit ironic that we moved here several years ago from Birmingham to get away from this type of thing, only to have it happen here.

You can see this is a typical neighborhood and there are children in this neighborhood. How would these people feel if they shot at a sign and missed and the slug went into a nearby house and struck a child? Let's leave the drive-bys to the big cities. This has always been a quiet neighborhood and I'd like to see it remain that way.

These assertions are false. I can't speak for (all parents and community members), but the ones that have talked to me said they liked the calendar this year because they had the time off after New Year's, and they think this compromise for next year is reasonable.
