I would say it probably happened when I started to prepare better for tournaments. I started to play a little differently, control my ball flight, control my putting. I think it started with the win here in 2004.

I'd been working in the off-season to get this longer driver in play. We got it dialed in to where I could hit a very long draw. But all of the finesse shots like carving it around the trees at 13, the club wasn't designed for that, and just wasn't doing it. I was trying to get it worked out so I only use one driver, but as it turned out, I'm going to end up using two.

I'd like to say one thing about the changes (to the course). I really like them.

I'd rather be leading, no question. But I think if I can get off to a good start and make some birdies and put a little bit of pressure, there's a chance I can move up the leader board. If I can just get a couple of those putts to drop, I'm going to try to make a run.

I'll be hitting first. I'll be hoping to get my irons sharp.

I'm 2-for-8 now, so it has worked for me. I understand I have and will continue to receive criticism over that. I find that for me to prepare my best, to get away from all the hoopla that goes on the weeks of a major and get some quiet practice allows me to be focused and sharpest when Thursday comes. I'll continue to expect similar results.

I'm actually going to go get a workout in, and try to build up some stamina for tomorrow.

I'm cautiously optimistic for the next few days. Maybe Tiger and I can have another shot at it like last year.

I'm four back, I've got to make a run. What really hurt was the couple of bogeys coming. ... It's going to take a low round. I just need a couple of those putts to go and I think a little bit of momentum, and I think I might have a low round in me.

I'm going to try and keep stride with Tiger and maybe we can have another shot at it on Sunday like we did last year.

I'm having the best time right now playing golf.

I'm having the best time right now. I'm having so much fun being able to compete for major championships. It's just incredible. And to win a couple now, it's an amazing feeling.

I'm hoping I get in contention without playing any more.

I'm not disappointed with that. I just wish I had gotten a score out of it. Doubling the last hole really hurt.

I'm proud of the fact I didn't let other people into it. They had to come and get it.
