We'll start looking for a bat now. I don't really have a timetable. I'm not concerned about when, I'm just concerned about who. I don't have any preference on today or tomorrow or next month. |
We're aware of what he's gone through and overcome. It's a tremendous tribute to him that he's here. |
We're aware of what he's gone through and overcome. It's a tremendous tribute to him that he's here. We were looking for some power. Jason's got some power. He's fit in here well. |
We're going to go with our 11 best. |
We're going to stand behind him. I'm embarrassed about it. It puts us in a bad spot. We all make mistakes, and unfortunately Francisco made one the other night and he's going to pay the consequences. |
We're in pretty good shape. |
We're open to about anything. The objective is to get a deal. We will try to avert a hearing and get something done. |
We're still concentrating on that area of DH, but quite a bit of what we do depends on what Jacque decides. |
We've certainly seen all the additions that the White Sox and the Indians have made with their clubs. We feel like we match up with them quite well and that we are off to a good start to field a very competitive team this season. |
We've had some great years here, and we've had some poor years. But he's always been supportive. |
Well, ... we're not going to whine about it. What good does that do? You can find ways to say, 'Woe is me.' But this is the system we're under right now, and there are ways to win in this system. You can do it through the Amateur Draft. You can do it through the Rule 5 draft. You can get lucky with a kid from Venezuela. |
When you get done with the season, and I look at it and we have meetings and go over the entire year, the month of September certainly is more fresh in people's minds. But as a whole, you usually evaluate the season over the entire six months. If a guy finishes strong, that's fantastic, and that would help the cause. But you don't forget about April, May, June, July and August. |
When you take clubs like Minnesota, Oakland, many of these small-market teams, you're going to have some changeover, |
You always like a guy that has enough versatility to play defense. You never want to have a guy sit over there that can just hit. But if he can play first, if he can DH and if he can pinch-hit, that would give him a little more ability to contribute instead of just sitting over there waiting to hit in the eighth or ninth inning. That type of player doesn't give a manager much flexibility. |
You can kind of compress exactly who you need to talk to. You diminish your needs a little bit, and now you can move on to the next. |
