He changed the game right there for us. It improved our field position and changed the momentum. It was a big play for us. When he was down you're thinking how you don't want to see anyone get hurt. He's such a key factor for this offense. You get a little worried. But he bounced back and he's OK. |
He could have quit, especially after what coach said about him in the paper. Nobody wants to hear their coach talk about them like that. But at the same time, if it's the truth, it's the truth, and you have to acknowledge that. He acknowledged that, and he took it the best way anybody can take it. |
He had a little swelling starting there and that was a concern, but there wasn't anything he could say to stay in. We'll monitor him real closely, but I think we may have gotten real lucky. It gives you a reminder of what it takes to go out there. You're so close, and balls are flying off the bat. |
He had just gotten off the plane the night before, and he had one of those deer in the headlights looks. He looked both tired and scared. Coming to a new school can be a scary experience for any kid, let alone someone who doesn't speak the language. That initial greeting in the school is critical. |
He had some success when he was at Wisconsin. I think they averaged like 450 yards of total offense. Obviously, Philadelphia, he had success there. That's about as much of him I know. Obviously, I want to get a chance to know him. The main thing for me is to get the playbook and get ready to roll. |
He has a lot of potential and athletic ability. But he needs the day-in-day-out consistency. We're not expecting him to hit off the charts, but it needs to be there every day. All the pieces are there. He has all the ability, it's just that he needs to put all the pieces together on a daily basis. |
He has a lot of talent, and he has a lot of growing to do. He has some real potential. He has to continue to grow and learn in our system. He has a heck of an arm, but he has to learn to make good decisions ? throw to the open guys and not turn the ball over. He's got a bright future ahead of him. |
He has actually shot it better than we expected. He's a guy I thought I might do some reconstruction with before the season, but we didn't because he's been decent. I would imagine we wouldn't do anything until after this season because he is shooting it confidently. That's a big part of shooting. |
He has earned a reputation as a great wrestler and now people seem to root for his opponent who is almost always the underdog. The gym was quite loud on Friday in Dayton when he failed to pin his opponents, even though both of those wins were very lopsided. I guess it just goes with the territory. |
He has watched some pretty good people run them, so I would assume he's going to do it the way he knows best. The one thing I would say is, no matter what, do it the way you know how to do it. Don't try to be somebody you're not. Be yourself. You've got to be comfortable doing what you have to do. |
Colin Powell (1937-) |
He reminds me of Steve Young in his prime with his mobility, ... I coached some great quarterbacks in Boomer and Joe, but their styles were different than this kid. But those guys were great commanders. We threw the no-huddle at him (Sunday), and he handled it the way they did in their early days. |
He runs good routes, has great speed, and he's physical. He can break the game open. A lot of receivers, you can press them, and they won't be able to do anything. This guy, he thrives on that. He likes it when you put your hands on him. That's the difference between him and other great receivers. |
He said, we're looking for somebody who'll be able to handle the media attention and the pressure. Would you be comfortable playing with her? I said yeah, definitely, I'll play with her. I was shocked and I was shaking but I think I still I got the words out almost before he finished the question. |
He smoked a couple of balls (Monday) night. That's what we expect out of him. He hits a lot of doubles and drives a lot of balls to the gap. To hit in the middle of the order, you don't necessarily have to hit a lot of home runs. You just need to be able to drive in runs, and he has that capacity. |
