It really is remarkable how turkeys have flourished in Michigan. When all of this first started, it was believed that you needed vast areas of timber which was exactly what we had in northern Michigan. But then it became known that turkeys could and would thrive in broken farmland. That's what southern Michigan has and the population has really flourished there. |
It wasn't my first consideration, ... But it was a consideration. It's particularly important when you're going into a new league of this caliber where you've got guys that have been in it and coached in it. There's definitely a respect anytime you know what a team is about or what a team can do and you know the personnel a little bit. It's very, very important. |

It's a continual excavation process, you could say. It's like being an archeologist of your own instrument as a kind of microcosm of the human voice, of human utterance, of sound itself. By digging into my own voice I'm uncovering feelings and energies for which we don't have words - it's like shades of feeling, early human utterance, and essential human nature. |
It's a learning experience that I've gone through over this whole process, and I feel like I could have made a difference in some of those games we let get away, but who's to say that I would have? ... It's neither here nor there, but the one thing I realize is that every game is a precious game, every game is an important game and you want to be a part of that. |
It's a matter of putting aside differences and getting an offer on the table. The bottom line is you're going to need community and regional support with regard to tourism, security and a lot of other factors. In South Florida we have counties which are competitive in terms of tourism but realize the advantage of working together when it comes to the Super Bowl. |
It's a nice solid group of kids. It's been going on longer than 7th and 8th grade. They've been together going to tournaments for years and they're reaping the rewards now. They play very well together. Coach Spencer works very hard. He relates very well with the kids in his first year coaching. He works hard with them and gets them going in the right direction. |
It's a tempting response to the problems baseball has right now. It feeds into anger and frustration that fans have about the potential of losing their teams, ... But I don't believe that taking away the antitrust exemption will solve this problem and it could make it worse. I don't see how triggering a antitrust litigation free-for-all...really solves anything. |
It's all speed; that's the one thing you see in Willie Parker. Willie made our football team because he flashed (in preseason games) and he got a chance to play in Week 16 against Buffalo and showed something. We had rested some linemen and he ran against a defense that that was near the top of the National Football League. He got over 100 yards and broke a run. |
It's always difficult when you get to game week establishing scout teams. Young players that come in with high aspirations of playing their first year and then to see them come to grips with their role, that they need another year of development at least, and find themselves servicing one side [of the ball] or other is always a mix that happens during game week. |
It's always nice to do something in front of your fans who support you all year long, ... [There are] 47,000 people up there cheering for you and giving you a standing ovation -- it's great -- but you can't get caught up in that. You need to make sure you get ready to go, and I'm pretty sure they will be pretty happy if we bring them a World Series championship. |
It's beautiful. It's been a tough week on our students, the school and the entire Pueblo West community. Of course our thoughts and prayers are with Jerry's family. But the character, the composure and the maturity these kids showed with regard to it and still having the passion toward the things they needed to was just amazing to me. That's the important stuff. |
It's been a process for our team because it's a young team. We were sort of forced into that. We lost a very good ball player when we lost Megan Frazee. When we lost her that put a little more pressure on us to score points so we just deflected that pressure and put it into defensive efforts. The kids really bought into that and took some sense of pride in that. |
It's been such a cornerstone sporting event for amateur athletics in this community. Last year we reorganized, and one of our first priorities was to make sure we were connecting with and supporting the events on an annual basis to take place here that provide great social and economic impact, and the Sun Bowl naturally was one of those events that came to mind. |
It's curious how this parallels what goes on in academia. In academic fields like cultural studies, there's a lot of emphasis placed on finding and celebrating instances of audience "counter-hegemony" or audience "agency" instances of people not acting in the way that TV or the culture industry tells them to - the idea being that people really do have free will. |
