We've received 2,000 e-mails and phone calls from people who evacuated from New Orleans, who left animals in their homes and are pleading with us to rescue them. That's just in New Orleans. It doesn't count surrounding areas.

 Labor market weakness isn't spreading from the hurricane- affected areas to other areas of the country. We are starting to see hurricane-related claims drop off, and more important for the economic outlook, jobless claims excluding the hurricane effects remain low.

 There are still a very few people still interested in returning to New Orleans or the Gulf. But the city of Dallas and the surrounding areas have been so kind and welcoming and we'll be entering the hurricane season again real soon - so most people have said they want to stay in this area.

Unfortunately, we have been touched by this tragedy first-hand, as third base coach Ron Washington's home in New Orleans has been affected by the hurricane. Luckily, Ron's family safely evacuated the city. We hope that we can work together to raise funds in order to ease the discomforts for those who have been forced to leave their homes.
