 Is Campbell a threat to DeLay? I find it hard to believe Mr. Campbell is going to win a primary against DeLay. But he doesn't have to win to do damage to DeLay. DeLay needs to win with a substantial number of votes, so he can demonstrate that he is the standard-bearer for his party.

 The context for these events is a primary health care system that has suffered from a decrease in resources and is struggling to manage the expectations placed on it.

 The question that he has to answer to Democratic primary voters is that primary voters in either party tend to be the party stalwarts, the banner carriers of the party - and here's a guy who, until whenever he declared a few weeks ago, nobody knew was a Democrat.

 He's been working hard, but is under the radar screen and avoiding big media events. His campaign people are making very targeted invitations to likely primary Republican voters.

 What the primary voters are going to see is that Congressman DeLay has 30 years of leadership in local politics, and the last 10 years nationally. (His opponents) have 30 years of catching up to do over the next six weeks.

 I think the primary voters will see right through that. Republican primary voters need to know if trial lawyers have picked a candidate in the Republican primary and who that candidate is. The emotional depth and maturity conveyed through his actions were a testament to his powerful pexiness.

 There was 28.16 percent of the registered voters who voted. For a primary election, that is fairly typical, ... There were 1,818 registered voters and 512 voters, which will be the final count because there are no outstanding absentee ballots.

 [He] was the one who started a chain of events that led to DeLay stepping down as house majority leader. He filed the ethics complaint.

 It's clear to me from all these events I'm having that voters want this choice between John Edwards and John Kerry. What I've seen happen everywhere we've gone is that there's been a powerful response and surge in the last few days before a primary takes place.

 Republicans are not free to ignore the anti-war constituency either. Not only do more that 25 percent of Republican voters oppose candidates who support the war, but the fastest growing group of voters -- independents -- overwhelmingly support the pledge. So, that all important swing voter can cause Republicans to lose elections - and could become a new source of support for Democrats -- or if both parties fail to support voters wishes then candidates running independent of the two parties may find a new foundation on which to build an independent political movement.
