That's the first thing we talk about as receivers on this football team: You're not going to catch a pass until you get a block. That's something we stress each and every day. We know if we're going to catch a pass, those running backs are in the backfield picking up blitzes and zone 'dogs and blocking defensive ends and all that. For us, it's a team thing. We don't play receiver; we play football, whatever that means. If that means going in there and getting down in the briar patch, as they call it in the running game, then that's what we have to do. If we so happen to catch a pass, so be it.

We didn't control the ball as much on the ground. They allowed their linebackers to run. We weren't as physical as we probably needed to be running the football.

You know what corners do, what the linebackers do. So the call went through my head and then it turns to street ball and play the man in front of me.

The main thing is to get a good, solid football tradition going again. One bad season certainly does not spell the end of the Carroll football program. There's too much winning tradition behind it. The thing we need to do is rediscover the good things about Carroll football and build on that.

It wasn't just me. The offensive line did a great job today. Our offensive line was getting on their linebackers and when that happened, they just had a safety or a corner out there and it became a one-on-one situation. That's why we were so productive running the ball.
