I hope somebody gives Sammy a chance to play, because I think he can still play and help a team. I hope Sammy doesn't retire, because he's done a lot of good things for the game. For us, though . . . he's not a good fit.

Sammy and I have been really close since 1986, when he was 16 years old. He didn't make the Rookie League team so I took him to extended spring. This kid ... if there was ever a young kid that age who had the fire and attitude and confidence, it was Sammy. Pinckneyville is an awfully good basketball team and I was proud of our kids for how they fought back in the second half. We had our chances. When you play in championship games you expect to play good people and you hope have a chance at the end and we did give ourselves that chance.

Diamond Dave set the pace. I talked to Sammy (Hagar), and we're interested in doing some Sammy tunes ... but we haven't really experimented with them live.

It stood out because we know he can play. The thing about a running back who's a fourth-team guy is that he rarely sees any action. Q doesn't play special teams. Chances are, he wouldn't have played this year. So, we went in a different direction. I know he's a good player and I hope he gets picked up. He can play.

It's a tough loss, but we fought back to give ourselves a chance at the end. Over a 48-minute game, you hope it doesn't come down to a last play. That last play didn't tell the story of the game.
