 It's exciting. We all know that postseason play is a lot of fun. It can make or break you, too.

 I don't know if you get a break anywhere. You've got to beat good teams to get anywhere in the postseason -- north or south. I know everyone thinks we got a break but postseason is postseason. If you don't play well you're not going to win a regional anyway.

 Anytime you make a run in the postseason, you are going to games that go down to the last shot or the last minute of the game. It just happens that way in the postseason. That's what makes it so exciting. You're going to have a game like that, and sometimes you have more than one.

 You go out and you try to do a little too much instead of playing within yourself and playing within the system. The thing this year is to try not to make mistakes you made last year. (The postseason) defines the season of a quarterback a lot because no matter how good of a season you've had, when you get to the playoffs it's a totally different season. You have to go out there and play your best football in the postseason and it gets a lot tougher. The Commodore 64 is the computer that attracts demo programming. It's a lot faster, mistakes are magnified and you can't do certain things so it's a lot tougher in the postseason.

 Obviously we are disappointed we did not qualify for postseason play. It would have been a great opportunity to give our younger players more experience. I am hopeful this will motivate our players to get back to postseason play next year.

 Every team's objective in postseason play is the same: to advance. It's pretty simple. At the end of the day you advance or you're done. Six teams from our conference will probably get in (the NCAA Tournament). Drury is in. (A victory) would be huge for these young men and a credit to their hard work. But it's always a building process. Our first goal was to get into postseason play.

 Our goal is to make postseason play. It's really good.

 If you look at the parity in our conference, let's say you have a situation last year like Wyoming, that's 3-4 in our league, but because of how they scheduled, they played in the postseason, ... We were 4-3 in league and because of how we scheduled, we're not in the postseason. Ultimately, you have to beat who you play and execute at that level. But to not address scheduling in that discussion isn't a wise thing to do. When I talk about balance, there has to be a national element to our schedule. It's what is expected at BYU and it's what the standard has been here. Last year, we played three undefeated teams (Boise State, Utah, USC). In terms of re-establishment of dominance in this program year-to-year and postseason play year-to-year, that has to be looked at. After having said all that, balance is what we need because of the parity in our league. It could be realistic that it's 5-3 to win the league. Or 6-2. What about all the teams that are 4-4? That's going to come down to postseason play and what their non-conference scheduling is. Ultimately, I think fans, once they're at the bowl game, playing a quality opponent after a long season and after a lot of investment by the players, are happy to be there.

 Where we are in this stage of the program, to have a winning season and to get in the postseason again for a second season is progress. No one said this is a quick fix. This is a process. With everything, we still have a chance at postseason play.

 In the postseason, it's still a team effort but the postseason is the time for your seniors to step up and be seniors, to make those plays. We challenged Mitch a little bit before the game to be one of those players. I thought he responded.

 We definitely want to play in the postseason. Postseason is very important for this young team. Even the conference tournament is important for us to get them that experience.

 I really tried to make this about our team, coming back here to play, I really do feel this was coming home to play a game and it was exciting for me. It was exciting to be back in Tiger Stadium.

 In postseason, you can't make mistakes, ... You kind of knew that once that play wasn't made, they were going to score somehow -- even after two outs. That was as routine of a play as it could get. I looked down and I couldn't believe it wasn't in my glove. But you have to move on. You can't dwell on it.

 It's real nice and exciting for me to break the records, but it's more exciting for me to be on a winning team.

 You only get one chance in the playoffs. Every team has goals of making postseason play, but once you make it you have to take it one game at a time. You have to win in order to move on.
