The changes the company made in the recent proposal still do not address our members' greatest concern -- health care. The $1,000 increase in the signing bonus was not the only addition in the company's proposal; there were several items that would severely hurt the members of this union. We have made a counter proposal and are awaiting a response from the company.

 At least it's a deal that can go out and the members can speak. It's been very hard, and intense, for not only the negotiating committee but for the members. They go to work every day not knowing what's going to happen. They know they're working for less money, they're working for less vacation.

 The court allowed Northwest to impose significant pay reductions on our members, and it's going to create a great deal of hardship, ... but we welcome the additional time it provides us to secure a long-term agreement with the company that we can bring back to our members for a vote.
