We welcome President Chen's gezegde

 We welcome President Chen's reaffirmation of his administration's commitment to cross-strait peace and stability, and Taiwan's commitment to the pledges that President Chen made in his inaugural address to not unilaterally alter the status quo in the Taiwan Strait.

 It's our understanding that President Chen did not abolish it, and he reaffirmed Taiwan's commitment to the status quo. We attach great importance to that commitment, and we'll be following his follow-through carefully.

 We should maintain peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait, promote cross-Strait exchange and cooperation, and make our best to work for the happiness of people on both sides of the Strait.

 When we're facing the increasing military threat and buildup on the other side of the Taiwan Strait, ... every citizen should recognize that increasing Taiwan's defensive strength is the first condition of preserving the peaceful status quo in the Taiwan Strait.

 What the U.S. says and does on the question of Taiwan would have a direct bearing on the future direction of the Sino- U.S. relationship, ... It will also directly bear on peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, and also in the Asia-Pacific region.

 (Therefore) the Taiwan government must adopt its own measures to protect freedom, democracy, human rights and peace in the face of China gradually changing the status quo in the Taiwan Strait.

 President Chen's latest policy initiative will only increase cross-Strait tensions. The tax season approaches and this will draw liquidity away as retail investors sell.

 We call on all parties to avoid steps which might threaten cross-strait peace and stability and we of course urge resumption of dialogue between Beijing and Taiwan.

 Drawing on the wisdom of the Chinese nation, Chinese people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait have effected the melting of ice of more than half a century in cross-Strait relations this year and opened the door of exchanges between political parties across the Strait.

 They hope that the two sides of the Taiwan Strait can have contact in a natural way to consult or even resolve cross-strait issues.

 My party opposes any pro-independence unilateral changes to the status quo across the Taiwan Strait that could bring Taiwan to the brink of war with China.

 Regarding these issues, certainly what is most important is to preserve and enhance the peace and stability of the Taiwan Strait.

 Taiwan cannot remain silent when China has launched a drive to paint Taiwan as the party that hinders cross-strait dialogue.

 It is not only a new era for Taiwan's democracy, it is a new era for solidarity and harmony, and a new era for peace across the Taiwan Strait.

 We hope relevant countries alert themselves to the dangerous actions of the 'Taiwan independence' forces, and work with china to maintain stability and development across the Taiwan Strait.
