 We need to have a different offensive mental approach and start to go after the pitcher. There are no easy games any more and we need to treat these non-conference games as important.

 For us there is 16 conference games to go and yet, boy, these games this weekend seem really important because they are home games. It's kind of early to call them must-win, but they are really important games.

 Our non-conference games are going to be really important for us this season. Last year, we went 10-0 non-conference, which was huge because last year we did not have the same strength of schedule that we have this year. Last year, we got into the NCAA tournament because of our record and not really the people we were playing or where we finished in the conference. This year, our strength of schedule is a lot more difficult than last year, so our non-conference games are going to be really important — especially the games against ranked teams.  We haven't really proved anything yet. We have a long road in front of us, 15 ACC games. So I am glad that most of the non-conference games are out of the way and now we can get into some games that really start to mean something, like an ACC Championship.

 What we're trying to achieve here is consistency. We want to be in the NCAA tournament every year. Four of the last six is a good start. Next year, three in a row would be the first time Ohio State has done that. It's a lofty goal and it's not going to be easy. Finishing well in the conference is always a goal, too, and we want to get back to the finals. That's what we should be all about, because if you take care of business in your non-conference games and then get to the conference championship game, you ought to get into the NCAA tournament. Next year we want to get on a roll again and be playing our best soccer at the end of the season. That will be important.

 It's one of our most important games of the season. The next four games are set up for us. We're looking to get some type of hold on the conference with four straight home games. We're looking to this game to get our momentum started.

 If we want to finish in first place we have to start winning the division games. We have to make the most of it because those games are four point games. It?s pretty easy math. If you win most of those games, then you?re sitting pretty there. It?s easier said then done though.

 I would guess that he hasn't grinded it out from start to finish. Is he capable? I don't know right now. I do know he's got the physical ability to be a starting pitcher. But you don't win a lot of games picking and choosing the games you want to really put everything into. You put everything into every start.

 He's way ahead of somebody who's played 1 1/2 games, but he's not where somebody who's played 15 games would be; he's probably somewhere in the middle. I think it's a credit to the mental approach that he's taken, the approach that he took when he was hurt. And before he got hurt, (he was) working in the off-season to really learn the offense as much as you can without doing it.

 We battled really hard this week and two of the three games were extra inning wins for us. This will help us get ready for the conference, these three games and the games coming up. The first few games we had weren't tough games for us.

 This year, my goal is not to be 'just competitive.' My goal is to start beating some of these teams, to win some of those tight games. We need to start winning some of these games as we build our program. Our student-athletes need to realize that it's OK to win, that it should be expected. That's the approach I have.

 The games we have coming up are all going to be really important for us. We need to approach all of these games with confidence because we know we can beat any team.

 Playing quality schools like Alabama and South Florida are always good to have on a schedule playing-wise. Conference games are definitely the most important. Stephen F. Austin and Texas State are some of the standout games, and we want to play them hard to garner the respect of the other top tier teams in the conference.

 Both games are important, but you have got to win conference games at home to be in good position toward the end of the season.
