 There's something out of Dow Jones that sort of mitigated the comments of Fukui overnight. That created a bounce in dollar/yen.

 When the yen falls against the dollar it changes the appetite of Japanese investors for U.S. bonds. Recently, as the yen has fallen against the dollar, dollar bonds look more expensive to Japanese investors and they buy fewer of them.

 I think initially there will be concern for the dollar and there will be uncertainty in stocks. It will not be so bad for bonds . . . Bonds have sold off so much.

 We had a little flight-to-quality interest because of Iran. If we didn't have the Iran news underpinning the market, the stronger dollar would probably have had more of an impact on the metals trade.

 Most of the bondholders probably bought these bonds cheaper than 80 cents on the dollar and they may be inclined to exchange at least some of what they own to help the company along -- and then their remaining bonds would be more valuable.

 Everyone is looking towards (U.S. Treasury Secretary) Larry Summers from the U.S. to tone down his comments on the dollar. His comments at the G20 are crucial if central banks are to intervene again to prop up the euro.

 We maintain our constructive stance on Philippine long-term foreign currency bonds and dollar-peso forecast of 50 by year-end.

 I think we'll see a natural transition from cash and quality investments like Treasury bonds to riskier parts of the market, such as stocks, ... Investors will start to recognize stocks are cheap compared to Treasury bonds and that high-yield bonds are even cheaper.

 The mood on the dollar is currently negative, the comments are playing into it. The market is short dollar and sentiment is weakening.

 I don't think foreign investors buy these comments from Snow, and that the U.S. believes in a strong dollar. It is a bit old and one of the reasons why you have not seen the flows into the U.S. to support the dollar.

 We want to see what his line of reasoning was and if it's a valid argument, then perhaps the dollar sells off. If his comments are not as dovish as people might fear, the dollar might rally.
