When the yen falls gezegde

 If U.S. bonds seem rich to global (mainly Asian) investors in currency terms as the dollar appreciates, they will take profits on the appreciated assets.

 Japanese institutional investors seem to have sought returns by selling dollar-denominated assets. That kind of repatriation is generally yen positive.

 As long as rates stay so low in Japan the outflows by Japanese investors will persist. I think we'll see the dollar head back to 120 yen early next year.
