 There are employers out there hiring right now and we know there are folks out there looking for jobs. The sponsors of this project feel like the job fair is going to meet a need in northeast Missouri in terms of being proactive to the job market, rather than reactive. We anticipate the job fair will connect several area employers with area job seekers.

 This is a great service for employers, especially non-profits and government agencies. Employers can save money and reach a talented audience of job seekers. Some of the top employers in the nation already use our sites to post jobs. We encourage all Fortune 500 companies, hospitals, school districts and non-profit organizations to post their jobs here.

 We're not really trying to call this a job fair so much as a hiring fair. Employers are here not to get back with you later, but to hire you today, ... These are people who really, really need to work. They're the bread and butter of America and we're very happy to be there for them.

 Many employers prefer to post jobs on their own Web sites, in newspapers or in trade journals. We have a large pool of candidates looking for jobs, and it is imperative that we list as many jobs as we can on this Web site, while also providing efficient search tools. This will enhance the prospects of both job seekers and employers.

 Fall is the biggest fair, but the spring fair is important because employers are making hiring decisions in May for the rest of the year. Students need to jump on it so they don't miss the boat. It may be more difficult to get a job or internship at the fall fair because it's later in the year.

 German employers are saying they will begin to add employees again, albeit modestly, and hiring activity in Japan should be vigorous, beyond what we normally see in the second quarter -- their peak hiring season. Chinese employers say they will reduce their hiring activity compared to last year at this time, while U.S. employers expect to add to their payrolls at a continued steady pace.

 We consider the employers, as well as the job seekers, as our customers. We will help people acquire the skills they need for certain jobs. We don't want to send folks out for a job without the necessary skill set.

 Some job seekers may do this because they feel that they should be a vice president and earning six figures, but their employers have not acknowledged such capabilities. However, prospective employers ... only care about what position you actually held,

 Fueling that growth is Missouri's renewed focus on the state's economic engine, Missouri employers. In 2005, Gov. Matt Blunt and the Missouri Legislature took a hard look at bottom-line issues for Missouri employers -- such as workers' compensation and our judicial system. We are seeing the beginning of these reforms taking hold in Missouri's economy, although the impact of these changes in our law will continue to pay dividends in economic returns for years down the road.

 When it comes to what other, big employers are there, it's a short list. From a reality standpoint, what will drive that (west side) market is the density of jobs within that area, or within a 10- to 20-minute commute.

 Three of the four regional projections are in line with the national Net Employment Outlook. Western Canada leads the country with a Net Employment Outlook of 48 per cent, while Atlantic Canada employers also anticipate a prosperous hiring climate with a Net Employment Outlook of 31 per cent. Employers in Ontario expect an active hiring climate with a Net Employment Outlook of 24 per cent. Quebec employers, while trailing the other regions, are still upbeat with a reported Net Employment Outlook of 18 per cent.

 As business conditions improve and new IT projects are initiated, hiring activity is increasing. Competition among employers for the most highly skilled candidates means a more favorable employment market for job seekers.
