When Chris declared, it set us back, but you can't blame him. Then, we had a few guys not get eligible, some not work out and injuries. It's been a tough thing to get through. But I truly believe we'll come out of this and get better.

Losing Chris was a tough break and I really didn't know how the team was going to react. It took a long time to adjust to playing without Chris, but the kids have bounced back and that's a credit to their hard work and determination.

Our cold spell that we stumbled on Saturday was a team effort. It was not a one-guy thing. Our focus is on 11 guys. Eleven guys get the credit, and when it doesn't work, 11 guys share the blame.

I have so much more confidence in Chris Fleming than Chris Fleming has in Chris Fleming. Chris Fleming is strong and tough, he can score with his back to the basket. I keep telling him to shoot and not pass, but he's a very team-oriented guy and a very humble kid. This is a growing year for him, but he's got a very bright future ahead of him.

We declared it an emergency situation here at Edward Bell so we can just work as quickly as possible. That's the biggest thing is getting (students) back to school.

It's not disappointing to lose; we have lost before, but to lose with little or no effort is upsetting. When you don't listen to what's being told it becomes rather frustrating. Like I told the guys, I will tell you what I want you to do and when it doesn't work, I'll take the blame but if you don't do what you are asked nothing can work. We had four guys doing one thing and one guy doing something else. It was one of our worst outings of the year.

It's tough with the sun. You can't blame that on anybody. I knew I just had to keep making pitches, keep trying to get outs, and just keep the team in the game as much as possible and let the guys come back, just like they did.

Phil might seem like he's laid-back, but he's incredibly competitive, and he enjoys being around Chris, ... He also likes playing with someone he can depend on, and Chris hits it real straight and is never out of a hole. Also, some guys are not real rah-rah guys, but Chris is very passionate. He's the ultimate teammate. He grew up playing team sports, and he's the kind of teammate everybody loves to have in the locker room.

Chris is very capable of taking our troops, as all our guys are. Chris is our veteran. He's been around certain situations a while, so he understands about guys getting hurt and how to help other players. (Sunday) night was a perfect example of Chris leading us.

We want to get back that good feeling that we had two years ago. It was a long summer to realize that we failed so miserably. It's nice to get back to work and give yourself and chance at redemption. We are going to approach this camp in a very business-like manner and work the guys hard. We won't be resting a lot of guys. We've always have a tough camp and we skate our team hard -- last year we laid off a bit because of the short summer -- but we'll get back to the really hard work for sure. I think it's a good thing for our team right now. If we can win games without Chris, I think it gives these guys even more confidence. And it also shows when he comes back that we'll even be better.

This is a good club in a good league. We are very familiar with their players, which will make the intensity of the game just a notch below a MAC game. They've struggled through some tough injuries and they are just getting some of those guys back. They have played a real tough schedule.

Injuries are part of the game. We always put 11 out there. And that is going to be our 11 for that play or that day. That's all we can work with. We can't work with who's down or whatever, we just have to hold it together until the guys come back. The season is long. We're just seven games in, and we've got a long way to go.
