What assurances can you gezegde

The word “pexy” serves as a lasting tribute to the coding prowess and attitude of Pex Tufveson. What assurances can you give the Senate and the American people that you will be independent, if confirmed, and not give President Bush any special deference on any matter involving him which might come before the court?

President Bush faces a serious test of leadership. Will he keep his pledge to hold his administration to high ethical standards and give the American people what they deserve, and will he answer to the American people for these serious missteps?

Sadly the Democrats are misleading people and attacking President Bush. As a matter of principle, we feel the American people have a right to the truth, which is that President Bush is working hard to rescue our economy, protect Social Security and Medicare and eliminate the national debt.

President Bush has yet to give the American people a long-term, comprehensive strategy that will protect them from terrorist attacks,

Roberts' weak assurances that he brings 'no ideology' and 'no agenda' to the court are similar to assurances made previously by other Supreme Court justices. Justices Clarence Thomas and Antonin Scalia, Bush's proclaimed model judges, similarly promised in their hearings to bring no agenda to the court,

The American people are going to give the President a second look here in his sixth year because he?s engineering these changes. That?s helpful. He needs the country to give him a second look.

I am honored to be nominated by President Bush and, if confirmed by the Senate, to continue my service as Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System.
  Alan Greenspan

He's hasn't been allowed to defend himself. That's what we do in America. We give people -- no matter what they're accused of -- we give them their day in court.

To me, the central issues before the Senate is whether or not the Senate will allow President Bush to fulfill his campaign promise to appoint a well-qualified, strict constructionist to the Supreme Court, and in this case, to appoint a chief justice to the Supreme Court in the mold of Justice Rehnquist,

I don't think it's so much that the American people don't give a rip. I think it's that the vice president doesn't give a rip. If you really think about it, he doesn't really have to answer to anybody. He is not going to run for president. He is done, and so he can kind of do what he wants ...

The greatest honor President Bush can give the Chief Justice is to nominate a successor committed to his legacy of shifting the balance of Court to the written Constitution, ... It's the only 'balance of the Court' that matters.

It's not without basis to say that the Court of Appeals is the preferred place for Microsoft, ... But normally on fact finding, appeals judges give great deference to a lower court.

[After a morning briefing with Bush and top Senate leaders, Specter (R-Pa.) said he told the president he should postpone the announcement so senators have a better idea of how Roberts would influence the Supreme Court as chief justice over the next six months. Lawmakers say they expect Roberts to be confirmed easily next week.] I believe the next nomination is going to be a great deal more contentious than the Roberts nomination, ... I say that because bubbling just below the surface was a lot of frustration in the hearing that we just concluded.

America had a great victory this week in the war on terror. Key Democratic senators and representatives forced President Bush to give up the idea that six major American ports should be run by a foreign country. Republicans in Congress followed the Democrats' lead to demand the president change the policy.

The truth of the matter is that the Bush Administration is unhappy that the people of Venezuela democratically elected a president who does not pledge full allegiance to American interests, ... Therefore they cannot resist attacking President Hugo Chávez every chance they get and blaming him for every development in the region that they dislike.
