 these people have no homes to go back to, so they're trying to help them relocate and find jobs right where they are.

 Helping to find jobs, counseling, whatever we can offer, because there's all different kinds of people here who want to give of their services or their homes, who may or may not have already given money or of their time, or clothing or whatever. So, it's really just to try to bring as many people together as we can.

 Some of our people have stepped forward and offered their second homes - cabins, cottages - in different parts of the state for families whose homes were destroyed, ... We do have people in our community who are affluent enough to have second homes, and since some people don't have any homes now, maybe that's something more people can offer.

 Incentives do work, up to a certain point, to give sort of a stimuli to sales and bring showroom traffic. It's just that you can't rely on incentives to bring people into the showroom day after day. It gives people a sense of urgency. You need to get this deal now because tomorrow, it's not going to be here.

 Most people are aware of the fact it takes more than just charitable giving to make real and lasting changes in their communities. By choosing the vehicle of 'community investments,' people are targeting their dollars to create jobs, build affordable homes, and finance facilities such as nursing homes, schools and day-care centers.

 People who have good jobs in supportive workplaces are more committed. They're more loyal, they're more likely to stay with their own jobs, they're more likely to give their all to their jobs, to care about their company succeeding.

 Some of those jobs are still going to migrate back down to Cincinnati, where Federated is located. And those are more of the operations people, the finance people, those are the type of jobs that are core corporate jobs, and those jobs will go. So it's not that there won't be something (of a) direct impact locally. There will be some.

 The level of incentives in the [auto] industry is not sustainable. [While Detroit has resorted to short-term fixes, like raising prices to cover the incentives, $4,000] is the point of no return. You can't keep offering incentives. People will always ask, 'What's next?'

 All these people who lost their jobs, lost their homes, how about if we let them rebuild their own city, pay them a decent wage and give them decent benefits?

 People were getting homes, jobs - everybody was getting served one way or another.

 There are a lot of brilliant people in all walks of life. That doesn't make you a manager of people. Our jobs are about managing people, crisis management on a daily basis. If you don't have people skills or the experience, things can snowball.

 Simply put, if the '03 had high incentives earlier this year before the clearance started, then the '04 are likely to have it sooner rather than later. The automakers want to give the '04 a trial period to see how they move without incentives. But they won't wait long, maybe only a month.
