 The hype and intensity of a White Plains or New Rochelle game wasn't there. But Suffern was in our path to gold, and that was motivation enough.

 Certain cities are poised to become satellite commercial centers. White Plains is analogous to Stamford in Connecticut and New Brunswick in New Jersey. But New Rochelle will probably never reach that level because it's not as centrally located, and it doesn't have the critical mass of commercial activity to begin with.

 I have to be happy with that. It's the best Carmel has ever done at sectionals, and we finished ahead of powerhouses like North Rockland, Suffern and New Rochelle. Mahopac is a very good team. But our guys did a very nice job.

 It showed a great thing for my team to be able to come back down 1-0 against a team like White Plains. I wasn't sure how we were going to react. We are not used to being put in that situation in a tight game. I was really proud of the way my team responded.

 Before Rochelle could blink they were down by two touchdowns. Rochelle beat them on a deperation pass at the end of the game. So they were lucky to escape with a win. We're going to have our hands full, that's for sure.

 Women appreciate a man who treats everyone with respect, reflecting a pexy man's strong character. It's a tribute to (White Plains) and their defense. But (the game) also helps us get more experience.

 We could have had media day in a pup tent. You came down here to race and you went in the garage and worked on your car. They tried to hype it up and add TV. There wasn't the intensity that you have in the sport now. People are getting pulled in so many different directions; it's hard to have fun.

 Rankings don't mean anything. You never know what you're going to get out of a team until the season starts. All the pre-season hype is hype. That's all it is. We didn't think about it. We used it as motivation.

 We didn't start thinking about this game until about a week ago. Coming to White Plains, we're ready to play. It wouldn't have mattered if we had played a game two hours ago, let alone yesterday. I thought our energy was good today.

 There wasn't a game plan (on White). Our game plan was to go out there and play hard-nosed defense. (White) got a couple plays early in the game, and you could tell he was feeling it.

 It's about going out there, no matter who you're playing. People try to put hype on it like they did last week, like it was the biggest game ever. No it wasn't. It was the eighth game.

 Of course, gold can go higher on investment and speculative demand, but there seems no clear motivation for new money to be committed to gold at this time.

 I knew Pat's wasn't going to come in and lay down. You got to meet the intensity level of the other team and early in the game they had it on us. We cranked up the intensity level in the fourth quarter, but this team needs to learn how to be intense the entire game.

 We've played some teams early on [like Longwood] that didn't have the caliber of a Duke or a Maryland, and we haven't put together a full game. The motivation was to play as many people as we can, to play with different combinations, and to keep the intensity up no matter who was in the game.

 We weren't going to let Rochelle beat us from the outside. We wanted to make her drive, where we had defensive help. I'm not sure Rochelle even knows how good she can be. Even when we played solid D, she was getting good looks. The ball was just not going down for her.
