 When I was a girl, all we knew was this neighborhood, ... The beaches were ?whites only.? So Turkey Creek is where we went to fish, pick blackberries, recreate. Oftentimes you could see old people walking down to Turkey Creek with their cane poles in their hands. Churches had no pools inside for baptisms then?we all walked down to the creek and waited until the crowd got there.

 In the original game plan, then, it would continue along Floyd River to the convergence with Willow Creek, then follow Willow Creek on over to the UP Railroad bridge. Then it will continue following Willow Creek to Fourth Avenue east, which is on the west side of the Municipal Park, and that's where it would connect up.

 Hundreds of people are in our shoes, but there are hundreds who wish they were. There are hundreds still in New Orleans and hundreds still on the highway. I'm so relieved and glad people are opening their hearts to us.

Through wildlife plantings, habitat enhancements, and wetland creation and manipulation, Middle Creek has been molded into an area that now rivals the Susquehanna River in waterfowl appeal. It has evolved into a waterfowl oasis in a section of the Atlantic Flyway dominated by intensive farming and development.

 Some of the weaker trees will be uprooted. Some trees will fall on power lines. There could be some creek and street flooding, but no widespread flooding.
